Pros: Proven tack record, tough, no-frills, conservative, functional and compact, great value for under $40. Cons: Only 1 alarm setting, alarm too quiet, buttons hard to push.
This 5600 is essentially the original 5000 G-Shock model which was released by Casio in 1983. Although slight changes were made over the years it is still basically the same watch. It may not be the newest of watches on the market, but nearly a quarter ...

Pros: Every bit as good as the original. Cons: Not as many features as the newer designs.
I remember having the original version of this watch when it first came out. It lasted me several years and probably would still be working if I had not lost it. I was thrilled when I discovered that it was once again in the Casio line. There are a ...

Pros: STRONG!!!!! long lasting battery Cons: none
If your a person who's constantly breaking watches from falling on them, swimming with them, dropping them, anything look no further than this watch or the entire line of G-Shock watches. This was the first G-Shock watch I got. I went for the basic...

Great Watch
by kyboy ,Apr 27 '05
Pros: Durability and ruggedness.
Cons: No automatic backlight.
I have owned this watch for six years and have never changed the battery. My only complaint is that you have to press a button to make the backlight come on. This is one durable piece of equipment.

TAKES A SEVERE BEATING AND KEEPS GOING.
by dwt007 ,Nov 25 '06
Pros: TOUGH AS HELL. THE WATCH WILL TAKE SHOTS AND PUNISHMENT. ACCURATE. VERY SIMPLE OPERATION. Cons: THE BIG WATCH SMALL PECKER SUUNTO FANS WON'T BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THIS WATCH.
THIS INEXPENSIVE WATCH IS ONE OF THE BEST TIMEPIECES I HAVE OWNED. IT IS SIMPLE TO OPERATE, AND IT HAS 12/24HR TIME. IT IS A TIME PROVEN DESIGN THAT IS USED WIDELY IN THE ARMED FORCES, BECAUSE IT IS CHEAP AND TOUGH. THIS WATCH CAN TAKE EVERYTHING YOU CAN THROW AT IT, AND IT IS VERY ACCURATE. SAND AND WATER DO NOT FOUL IT'S FUNCTION, AND REPLACEMENT PARTS (IE: BAND, SHOCK BEZEL) ARE REASONABLY PRICED.

Love this watch
by ssywak ,Oct 04 '04
Pros: Rugged, durable, fixable, readable, basic Cons: 5-year battery, as opposed to the 10-year batteries now available.
I've had a Casio G-Shock for over 15 years (it's older than my kids). Over those years, it's taken quite a great deal of abuse. I've replaced batteries, straps, even the case! It's display is straightforward, no bells & whistles, very readable, the backlight is great, and it's got just the right functions. The alarm runs for about a minute: enough to wake you up (if you really want to wake up, of course). My new Casio (I thought I'd try something different when the case split a second time) is the fancier G-Shock (G-2900), and the alarms really aren't geared to wake you (a definite drawback)
