Pros: Actually the food wasn't too bad. Cons: Return times seem delayed. another couple due to leave 11-16-07 delayed. We left 11-17 delayed
First problem: AJ left luggage in Chicago. While this might seem a minor problem the real problem was they knew they couldn't handle all the luggage, they had the remainder of the day befores luggage to transport. So they simply left about 24 bags in ...

Pros: They didn't kill us!!! Cons: Everything!!!
Air Jamaica ruined our Jamaican holiday as they have done for others. Heathrow to Montego Bay was okay except the drinks ran out half way through the flight. However the return flight was hell!!! We were supposed to leave Montego Bay at 8:30pm for ...

Pros: Direct "TO" Jamaica Cons: Outbound from Montego Bay
Profits come first
Compensation is required by law only when you are "bumped" from a flight that is oversold.
Contrary to popular belief, airlines are not required to compensate passengers whose flights are delayed or canceled.
I was in Montego Bay,...

Pros: Air Jamaica has good food Cons: Air Jamaica will ruin your vacation, lie to you, and lose your luggage
My husband and I were thrilled to get the opportunity to travel to Barbados over spring break. Unfortunately, we booked a Delta/Air Jamaica partner flight through expedia.com. We were forced to go through customs at Montego Bay, although Delta agreed ...

Pros: none Cons: all of the above
Our return flight from our holiday in Jamaica was a nightmare. Forty-five minutes delayed flight time because the crew did not get in from Kingston was just the start. That time was spent on the plane also, by the way! There was no weather problem and no...

Pros: nothing Cons: everything
I flew Air Jamaica to Montego Bay. The stewardess - in first class - was extremely rude. I found all the employees who worked at the airport counters to also be rude & uninformed. They never seemed to know what was going on. When departing...

Pros: Good deal Cons: No complaints
The first time I traveled to Jamaica I wanted to fly with a well known airline. I hadn't heard much about Air Jamaica so I asked around. From what I heard, they had a pretty good reputation so I made the reservations. I had an all inclusive package so...

Pros: I'll never have to fly with these people again Cons: I had to fly with them once
4-12-08 Ft. Lauderdale to Montego Bay Jamaica: Plane was over an hour late departing. Ten minutes into flight, we returned to airport - cabin would not pressurize. OK, stuff breaks, good call by Captain and a safe landing. AJ left us in limbo for over an ...

Pros: Free and tasty meal, free champagne in coach Cons: Unscheduled change in flight plan, late arrival/departures, poor service in cabin and ticket line
Despite reading a slew of negative online reviews, I decided to give Air Jamaica a try because the fare was reasonable and the schedule fit like a glove. While it wasn't the worst flight experience I've ever had, it left a poor first impression and ...

Don't fly Air Jamaica!
by kaddy6001 ,Nov 19 '06
Pros: none Cons: DELAYS
What a nightmare! We got to the airport at 2:00 P.M. on a Wednesday. They told us that our flight was delayed 4 hours. Did not give any reason other than the plane we were to fly on was not here. They gave us $500 jamaican dollars for food. Which did not cover our dinner. They kept changing the flight time and after over 10 hours they cancelled the flight. They sent us to a Holiday Inn. It was all-inclusive but definately was not a Sandals. The food was awful and the rooms very standard. We were told the next morning (Thursday) that we would leave the hotel at 2:30. We stood in LONG lines at the airport to get checked in again. Our flight was supposed to be leaving at 5:30 P.M. We did not leave until 7:00. We got to Ohare at 10:00. By the time I got to my home in Wisconsin it was 2:00 A.M. (Friday morning). I will never fly Air Jamaica again. This is regular occurrence with this airline.

Great Experience
by erin9576 ,Jul 24 '05
Pros: Great service
You get what you pay for Cons: Dirty airplane
They do run out of food items, so good luck.
My husband and I flew first class from LAX to Montego Bay. The departing and return flights were both slightly delayed due to events beyond everyone's control. Had a wonderful experience, both flights were professionally maintained and we have no negative words to say. Food was excellent, drinks were aplenty and service was wonderful.
Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay is very small, and was incredibly crowded ... checking in for non first class flights looked to be 3 hours long ... we were escorted to an Air Jamaica first class line and were checked in under 10 minutes. We were also allowed to wait in the first class lounge (free drinks/snacks) until our plane boarded.
It costs more, but we certainly felt that we were taken care of in a manner that was well worth the extra money.

Air Jamaica is fine man!!!
by unclebarry ,Dec 05 '03
Pros: Real food, complimentary champagne, friendly staff, on time 3 out of 4 legs. Cons: Slightly old seats, video system didn't work on one long leg.
Are you kidding me? We were a little skeptical after reading some of these reviews. We've flown too much and have hundreds of thousands of frequent flier miles and Air Jamaica is FINE. We flew them for the first time and 3 out of four connections were on time, the staff was as friendly as any and more so than some stuck up USA airlines. We had real food and complimentary champagne. We would certainly fly Air Jamaica again without hesitation. A fine experience. Do it.

AWFUL!!!!
by pogodude ,Jan 01 '05
Pros: Flight going there Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE
Never again will I fly on an airline this bad. The flight out was okay, in a nice new looking aircraft, except the entertainment system that they advertise was not working. The food was of decent quality (it was pancakes for me, instead of fish, or whatever the other option was). The flight back was HORRIBLE. My chair back had a pole coming out of it into my back (and when we asked for a blanket to put behind it, it took almost 1.5 hours). There was no choice for food on the return flight, only a chicken salad. We ordered a kids meal and a fat free meal. We are still waiting for a kids meal (I plan on writing a letter to them making them send me the kids meal via fedex.) The only reason why they deserve a rating higher than 1 star is because they got me to my location. I will only fly this airline if forced to.

Only Plus is Free Booze
by gpers ,Jan 22 '05
Pros: Free booze and free headsets for movies Cons: Delays, bad food, cramped planes, unknowledgeable management
Ok. Where do I begin. First leg of the flight...flight an hour late. Second leg of the flight....they change all our seating arrangements. A group of 12 people was scattered around the plane. I personally suffer from panic attacks during take-offs and landings and was furious not to have my companion next to me for support. Not to mention the place was creaking and cracking big time. I thought it was going to break apart.
Return trip home...first leg...plane late...yet again....and because we were in the back of the plane...there was absolutely no room left for our carry ons. Had stupid people putting soft duffle bags and purses up on top when they should be under the seat. Last leg home...still late.
Overall...the planes are small and cramped, the food was way more worse then usual, they don't seem to know how to run things. I won't be flying this airline again. The free booze isn't worth it.

Not unlike most other airlines
by pelagic ,Mar 29 '04
Pros: New aircraft, decent food, convenient schedule, price, on-time or close to it. Cons: Packed flights. "Cattle call" boarding at MBJ. Slow check-in
I just returned from a roundtrip from Boston to Grenada involving plane changes in Montego Bay both ways. This was at the absolute height of spring break travel. Having read the reviews here I was prepared to face a nightmare. Instead, I found a pretty typical air travel experience and would not hesitate to use Air Jamaica again.
The flights operated on time or close to it. (our return to Boston was 45 minutes late... not bad for a long international flight in my book). The service was polite. Check-in was somewhat inefficient compared to, say, the Delta Shuttle, although it beats the pants off of other Caribbean carriers.
Only real complaints: A 30 minute stop in Bardados turned into a 60 minute stop with no explanation. At MBJ, they boarded a *completely full* A321 en masse, all rows all seats in a mad free-for-all, which probably delayed us 30 minutes for absoultely no reason other than disorganization by the ground staff.
