beautiful and friendly

by marniejoyce , Jan 08 '00
Pros: beautiful, peaceful, non-commercial
Cons: HOT!!! (if that's a con for you)
I stayed on the northern coast of Sardegna - near Porto Torres - in August, 1998. The water is truly the most incredible color, particularly on the "Emerald Coast", where the famous "pink Beach" can be found.

The food in...

All I Want for Christmas is My Own Island

by foofygrrl , Dec 13 '00
Pros: Fun, cheap, easy to get to/around, great beaches, Not touristy
Cons: not many English speakers around so brush up on your Italian
Aaaah Sardinia. As American students studying in London, my friend Jeff and I stared outside at yet another rainy day and wondered, is this all there is? But a quick trip to ryanair.com to check out travelling info within Europe and we quickly realized...

A fabulous place...don't miss out!

by Rebecca2000 , Apr 10 '00
Pros: nice scenery, friendly people, good food, good shopping, lots of fun!
Cons: there was a big fire while we were there...a little smoky!, couldn't speak Italian!
Not only is Sardinia an attractive island, but it is also a really fun place to go for the whole family. I went there a few years ago and the scenery from where we were staying was just spectacular. We actually rented villas to stay in which had the...

Stress? In Sardinia? nahhhhhhhh!!!

by salgie , Oct 28 '02
Pros: Relaxation central....Unspoilt by tourism, turquoise sea, pearly white beaches
Cons: None, really - only wish it was closer!
From touch down, I fell in love….. The resort of Alghero was blissfully unspoilt, rural and to my mind absolutely gorgeous.

The airport is very basic- it has been years since I walked off the plane, straight across the tarmac to the...

Restaurant "Da Franco" in Cagliari

by Neuropean , Sep 24 '00
Pros: Excellent recepies and quantities and very fresh food
Cons: no credit cards, basic service compared to US standards
Review Topic:  Restaurants

This is a good surprise: I went there with my cousin and his wife who live in the district. The decoration is very basic to none. They do not accept credit cards. You must call for a reservation as the...

Don't tell anybody!

by vicfar , Jun 29 '04
Pros: Remote, rugged, beautiful, and relatively inexpensive
Cons: Far from the US
SARDINIA For the last two summers, I briefly vacationed in Sardinia and I may continue to do this every year, such is the beauty of this rugged island. Although Sardinia is part of Italy, the vacation experience is totally unlike what you will have ...

My favourite destination

by Neuropean , Sep 24 '00
Pros: Sheer visual splendor and variety of natural surroundings
Cons: Difficult contact with the local culture and transport to and inside the region.
Review Topic:  Overview

I admit it, I am biased. I am Sardinian. No, wait, this is not an undercover advertisement. I probably know better than the average tourist what the bad aspects of this place are.
I never lived in...

Sea and Sardinia

by maluse , May 05 '05
Pros: a beautiful island with many attractions
Cons: a bit far away for you
I should warn you: this is the longest opinion I´ve written so far. A double espresso beside your computer might help you to get through the reading. Not a cup of tea, we´re going to coffee country! In case you think of going to Sardinia or any other ...

Pros: Inexpensive and very beautiful

I traveled to Sardinia on business in 1997. While I was there my colleagues and I managed to spend about three days sightseeing and relaxing on the beaches. I have to say I can not wait for the next chance to go back. The beaches are incredible. The...

Sardinia.....Lovely.....But.....

by ottavino , Oct 10 '03
Pros: The BEACHES........each one is different and each one is gorgeous!!!
Cons: El Buric B&B Lodging Rude, dishonest ...ruined my vacation!!!!!!!! Stay in a hotel!!

Alghero is a lovely and affordable get away
by majorc ,Jan 20 '04
Pros: Sun, hand made crafts, red coral jewelry, seafood pasta.
Cons: Sardinia is run down - like southern Italy in general.
Alghero is a great place to visit for a long weekend. On the Northwest coast of Sardinia, Italy, it has a many fun things to do:
- visit Neptune's Grotto, a cave complex right on the coast
- shop for red coral jewelry, an Alghero-only commodity
- discover hand made Sardinia knives, pottery, and wool products
- eat great seafood pasta
- visit nearby Bosa
- use Ryan Air to get there cheaply

For couples, history buffs, I recommend staying with Mario Galasso, a Professor of post-medieval marine archeology and B&B host of El Buric. B&B El Buric is on the web. Great company, affordable price, near water and downtown.
