Pros: The ocean, the Delaware Bay and a fascinating history! Cons: None
To most of us, Lewes (pronounced "loo-iss") is best known as the departure and/or arrival point of the Lewes-Cape May Ferry, which transports thousands of tourists and vehicles per year to the charming, Victorian seaside town of Cape May, New Jersey....

Pros: lots to do Cons: very hot and humid in the summer
Delaware might be a small state, but there is so much to do and see! If you've driven north on I-95 towards New York, then you've probably passed through Delaware. It only takes about a half hour to pass through on I-95 through the northern part of the...

Pros: White sand dune beaches and great swimming. Cons: Not many...
We visited Dewey Beach (and Rehoboth) along the Delaware State coast the weekend before Memorial day. (end of May) We had been to Ocean City/Maryland and Chincotegue and were looking for something new.
Dewey was just what we were looking...

Pros: Their roosters are in terrific shape Cons: Not much for the law-abiding citizen
I hold Delaware close to my heart. I entered that state a wild, uncontrollable boy, but left a serious, dedicated man. With its lack of fun I began to concentrate on the truly important things in life like reading, writing, math, spelling, grammar, and...

Pros: Nice, quite place to spend your day laying on the beach! Cons: not too much to do, but that's what we were looking for...
I've got to start by saying, this is the best vacation spot, and almost unknown!
We were looking for a real vacation, but nothing too expensive. We went to our local AAA office and requested some travel guides. Ocean City, Maryland...

Pros: Clean, budget friendly, family friendly Cons: They "roll up the sidewalks" as early as 10PM!!
I am a native Marylander and for the longest time, I felt I had to travel to Virginia, the Carolinas or even my in-laws place on the Gulf Coast of Florida to find a nice beach that wasn't a tourist trap. I was so glad to learn this summer that there was ...

Pros: Beautiful beaches, sand dunes, early American History, fresh seafood. Cons: not many....
Didn't realize that Lewes was the 1st city in the 1st state ? Me neither... Delaware is considered the 1st state, since it was the 1st to ratify the constitution (Dec 7 1787)
In 1631 this 1st town in the Delaware colony, was a Dutch whaling...

Pros: Nice clean place Cons: none
I just love this place. When I was younger my family and I would go to Indian River Inlet all the time during the summer. We took the camper and spent weeks at a time there. They have their own beach and marina. It's not real far from any of the...

Pros: Escape here if looking for some place that is nice and quiet. Cons: The roads have horrible signs.
I traveled to Bethany Beach in late September/early October. Sure, it was the off-season, but the place was mine. I arrived on a Friday and stayed for an entire week. My time-share place was about a mile from the boardwalk and about 1/4th of a mile...

Pros: cleaner and cheaper than other areas, different strokes... Cons: It's Delaware. Even people in NY have trouble finding it.
So you've decided to go to the beach, and are looking for a suitable place to lay in sand, cover yourself in sunscreen and dodge gull missiles. Where to go? New Jersey? Nah... too cheesy and you really hate frequent hypodermic stabbings. New England?...

Pros: treated like royalty Cons: costs a King's ransom
If I were to write a romance novel, I would probably find a place such as the INN at MONTCHANIN for the guy with the big blonde hair and the foreign accent to take the heroine for a weekend of playfulness, passion and pleasure. The problem with that...

Pros: Great atmosphere, still small town charm, wonderful place to go. Cons: Occasionally jellyfish in summer, may be too many people for some folks.
OK, so maybe Rehoboth isn't a resort. But, with over 12 years of visiting under my belt, I can tell you that it is a very nice place to go. If you're looking for a place that can capture small-town charm with big-town stores, go to Rehoboth.

Pros: Inexpensive museum with unique variety of exhibits Cons: None of note
I can't believe Dover, Delaware, and surrounding areas have so much to offer. As a former day tripper to Annapolis and Baltimore, Maryland, a move several years ago took me only about 20 miles from Dover. My family and I soon discovered that Dover had...

Pros: Easy to get around, cheap Cons: Beach was full of trash
Every now and then, my wife and I pack up the family and head to Rehoboth beach. It is about a 2-hour drive from our house and a good way to spend a nice lazy summer day. I have never stayed in Rehoboth for longer than a day, so if you are looking for...
