Pros: Colorado-type Ski-Resort in the Midwest, variety of runs, affordable Cons: Very remote location.
Lusten is the best kept secret in the Midwest. We have journeyed to Lusten for over five years now, and choose this ski resort over many in Colorado. (Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain.) We are avid skiers, and living in the Midwest, we found it...
Pros: Great snow, beautiful scenery, good soup, gondola Cons: Can be very cold in the morning!
Lutsen Mountain is definitely the premier ski area in Minnesota, and arguably in the midwest as well. Situated on the picturesque north shore of Lake Superior, the top of the mountain affords a beautiful view of the blue waters of the lake. The scenery...
Lutsen is by far the best ski area in Minnesota. I have skied all over the United States and have skied some of the best areas out west like Jackson Hole, Breckenridge, Big Sky, Bridger Bowl, Copper Mt, Taos...just to name a few, but I live in...
Pros: Great Skiing Cons: snow isn't there all year round
Lusten is them best skiing in Minnesota. Actually it is the best in the Midwest. They have all different types of runs to ski on. They have very simple runs for the beginners and very difficult runs for more advanced skiers. The scenery and beauty is...
Pros: good views of Lake Superior Cons: cost, slow lifts, unfriendly
We skied Lutsen Spring Break 2006. Some positives: decent terrain, not crowded midweek, ample accommodations (Caribou Highlands Lodges), hills are small so kids will not disappear. Drawbacks: high cost when you consider hours of 9:30-4:30, short runs ...
Pros: Great snow, huge runs, fast lifts Cons: Food is bad and priced high, closes early
When we traveled to Lutsen Mountain in Northern Minnesota at first the Chalet was dissapointing. Food was not worth the price and seemed old or stale. So we checked out our room in the ski area hotel deal. Wasnt too bad but once again nothing top ...
About myself: I am an avid skier and I have seen my share of ski resorts around the world and I have lived (just lived :-( at the time of this update) in Minnesota for over 12 years during which I visited Lutsen many times. So I think I am ...
Pros: Great snow, clean air, gorgeous terrain and scenery Cons: Small and brutally fast lifts, pricey meals, inadequate facilities, overpriced lift tickets
This weekend I went on a trip to Lutsen with my three best friends and my parents. The adventure began when we went out to dinner, and one of my tightwad friends was terrified by the prices of the food. The food was actually only a little higher priced...
Pros: Long runs, wide variety of difficulty, beautiful surrounding, great snow Cons: Minnesota winters can be unpredictable
Lutsen is far and away the best ski destination in Minnesota and possibly the Midwest. This serene landscape has everything a skier of any skill level could ask for.
On scenery alone, this mountain is second to none. Located in northern...
I visited Lustsen two years ago for a weekend. I don't know if I was lucky or what, but the place was practically deserted when I was there. Anyhow, I had a great time, because the runs I was on were empty.
Pros: Great skiing/snowboarding/hot tub, pool, and lots more Cons: none
We went to Lutsen last winter. I was begininng skiing and was a little nervous. We got there the first night a looked at our lodge! Aww, it was a paradise! We got inside, it was soo awesome. There was a hot tub and fireplace right in our room! I was in...

Pros: great skiing, excellent accomodations Cons: can be cold in Jan,Feb
When there is snow, Lutsen is a fantastic place to ski. I have been to Colorado skiing many times and to all of the places in Minnesota. Lutsen is the closest to Colorado. A comparable hill in Colorado would be Eldora, NNW of Denver. Moose Mtn is the...
YOU GOTTA STAY THE NIGHT by hopalonghowie ,Feb 07 '05
Pros: powder, big for midwest Cons: THEY CLOSE AT 4:30
i was just up to Lutsen this weekend, with the warm winter we decided it best to make the 4.5 hour journey from minneapolis to Lutsen, we got there at 2pm and didn't even notice that there aren't lights like the other minnesota ski areas. we were not warned that we would only be able to board for 2 hours before they closed, needless to say that didn't make me happy, but the two hours we got to hit the slopes were awesome, there was actually powder on the mountain, and there were runs for all levels. if you are thinking of going up to lutsen i'd suggest driving up and staying the night before hitting the slopes, they are open 9am-4:30pm. don't waste 50 bucks for a ticket for 2 hours like i did
