I was a 3 year member of ballys and when my agreement expired I wanted to renew. They would only allow me to renew at a rate that included a payment $15 more than what I had been paying, even when I offered to go long term again. They are a terrible business. I am now a member at Golds.
Please don't join, or you will be paying for it (literally)! by helly_k ,Apr 04 '09
Pros: Only good thing Bally's has to offer is cheap membership and offer free enrollment. Cons: Because of inexpensive membership rate, unable to upkeep their facility; inflexible contract terms; and unprofessional
I hate Bally's. I joined their gym when I was 20 years old. Soon after, I joined the military and since I didn't know where I would end up being stationed, I went to the gym to cancel. The representative was such an a-hole. I couldn't believe the lack of professionalism. He gave me a hard time and finally agreed to cancel my membership. Five years later, I went to buy my first place and my mortgage officer informed me that Bally's had given me bad credit. I ended up settling for $300. I just moved and Bally's is my closest gym; regardless, I still go to a gym that is further away and I will NEVER join Bally's again. A-HOLES.
