Bryan Biegel takes on one of the biggest mysteries in sports as he attempts to locate the missing home run ball that Bobby Thomson hit in 1951 to propel the New York Giants past their rivals, the Brooklyn Dodgers, a blast which famously became known as "The Shot Heard Round the World." Inspired by his father's claim to have found the ball in a thrift store, Biegel sets out on a memorable quest which takes him from the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, to an anonymous gravel road in New Mexico. Along the way, he interacts with a delightful series of offbeat characters whose lives were somehow touched by the path of the ball, most memorably Bobby Thomson himself, who is even more curious than Biegel to learn where his legendary shot finally landed. |
