Details: Limestone bluffs towering above the Mississippi River and mixed hardwood forests covering the rugged hills are characteristic of this 3,415-acre park. A portion of this wilderness once was part of the route known as the Trail of Tears, a trail taken by Cherokee Indians in their forced march to the West. Exhibits in the visitor center interpret the park's natural and cultural features, and the Trail of Tears. Camping, lake swimming, hiking, and trails for horseback riding are offered.<br><br><b>Directions:</b>&nbsp;&nbsp;10 miles east of Fruitland, off Hwy. 61 N on Hwy. 177, in Cape Girardeau County.
