| MoonFey's Full Review: Champion Action Shape Bra |
Attention all blessedly endowed sisters!
Are you sick of trying to find a bra that keeps your curves looking natural? Do you find yourself wandering aimlessly around the lingerie department, searching desperately for the support and endurance that is worthy of your hard-earned money? Do you, like I once did, believe that you can not find a bra that does not have an underwire, and still get a wonderful look? Well, look no further!
The Champion Action Shape Sports Bra is the answer to millions of women's prayers everywhere.
First, I will share my plight for the perfect bra with you.
I grew up a very skinny girl, never believing I would ever grow breasts, crying, longing, and wishing that I would develop to have the picture of beauty that a lot of adolescent girls dream of. I was a late bloomer, for years wore a 32 B, and was thrilled when I eventually made it to a 34 C! I was quite satisfied with that size. Unfortunately, this also offset a panic attack for me, and developing as late as I did (around 17), I had a bout with anorexia for a little over two years, and I fully believe that I horribly messed up my metabolism with this. I recovered, and after dropping back down to a B cup, was back to my C cup.
Once I was comfortable in my womanly body, I loved wearing the "cute" bras, with an underwire for some added support, underwires never bothered me. However, being a young adult, I was very active, attending concerts that have "mosh pits", going to dance clubs, waitressing, and hiking very frequently. This is when I first discovered that those "cute" bras do not work well for all activities. My best friend to the rescue! She was an early developer, and she was also very active in sports in school, so she knew all about the right sports bra. Before a concert, she lent to me her Champion Action Shape Sports Bra, which I wore over my regular bra. I found I really didn't need my regular bra at all. It provided all the support I needed, kept my natural shape, even adding a little cleavage that I didn't know I had! From that point on, I was hooked (no pun intended) on this bra.
After having my son, I nursed him for about eighteen months, and figured that my breasts would shrink a bit once I stopped breastfeeding. Um, no they didn't! Not at all in fact. Well! Since I didn't need my nursing bra anymore, I was in the market for a great bra, for the woman with a little more. Ta da! There it was, in the lingerie department, staring at me amongst the smaller selection of bras made for a woman who's chest is anything more than a D cup. This was three years ago, and thankfully there are more choices today from manufactures who are conscious of the greater demand from the well endowed community!
The Facts
This bra is made for the larger chested woman. Not a smaller bra with added inches, but designed for the larger breast size. The straps have heavy-duty velcro tabs for adjusting, which never budge! The bra is a natural contour 3-dimensional fit, that provides:
Maximum support, with a full inner bra
Secure breast motion control - Non-stretch molded cups
Moisture Management - Coolmax polyester rib band
Ultimate support, comfort & fit - 14% Lycra spandex
They are available in sizes:
32-34 C/D through 42-44C/D
32-34 D/DD through 42-44D/DD
It has a rating of HI MCR, which is a system that Champion has to help you decide the level of support that you need. Their description of MCR:
MCR
Our exclusive Motion Control Requirements rating system determines the degree of breast motion control a sports bra must give for optimal support and comfort. All Champion Intensive Activity Motion Control sports bras are proportional and MCR rated to provide the right support for your specific breast size and level of activity.
Champion markets this particular bra for activities such as: running, basketball, soccer and aerobics, but in my humble opinion, this bra is great for everyday wear. Being a woman who wears a regular bra size 36 DD, any woman who is of similar size or larger can tell you, you need all the support you can get, not just for high-impact activities, but for everyday life! The act of walking too fast can make me very conscious of my chest, and I never dreamed that wearing a sports bra all the time was even an option. I was of the mind set, that once you were anything over a C cup, you had to have an underwire. I still have the scars to prove it! I admit it wholeheartedly, I was wrong. At the price of $36.00, I was a little weary of spending that much money for a bra. I am here to testify that I am a believer of this undergarment! I wore my last ones almost daily for a little over a year and a half, and they stood the test of time, washings, spills, haircolor drips, dancing, excercise, you name it!
I recently was at the shopping mall, and noticed that one of the department stores was having a great sale on their stock of bras. The Champion bras happened to be, "Buy 2, get one free now, and one free by mail"! Great investment! For $72.00, I got four bras, in their four different colors: white, black, gray, and navy, that will last me for over a year. Not bad, not bad at all...
Now, for the only con.
Like any new article of clothing, I would recommend trying on the bra before you buy it. Bear in mind, that kind of like a shoe or jeans, this sports bra takes a few wearings to "break it in" to your shape. Like I said before, I normally wear a 36 DD in regular bras. With this sports bra, I want not only support, but a little bit of minimizing as well. So, I personally buy their size 36-38 D. It is a little uncomfortable to wear for about three wearings, but once it molds a bit to my shape, even after washings, it holds to my particular shape, without losing it's support. In short, if you have a sensitive ribcage, you might find the process difficult, but well worth the results.
As the creator of the original sports bra, and manufacturers of athletic clothing for over 75 years, Champion has made me a convert and a believer! I hope I have provided enough detail to help you make an informed decision, and if not, feel free to ask! :)
