Paintball is one of the most fun sports in existence right now. Remember when you were a little kid and ran around in the woods with toy guns playing "war"? Sure you do, everybody guy does (And I'm not saying this is a guy sport although it is dominated by males) Well paintball is the exact same thing except with much more sophisticated "guns". A paintball gun can be rented at a field or you can buy one. The price range can be anywhere between $30 or $1,300, depending if you want a POS gun like the Brass Eagle Talon, or if you get a SWEET gun like the new LCD Angel. Most begginners dont spend more than $200 bucks on their first gun.
Paintball guns are powered by compressed gases which propel a liquid paintfilled ball at 280 feet per second toward an oponnent. Because of the high speeds players are required to wear special protective headgear, and because of this, there has never been one paintball related death, and the only time somebody has been seriously injured is when they remove their protective goggles.
The only con to this great game is the price, the guns like I mentioned earlier can cost a lot of money and the paintballs are even more expensive, most people will spend between $40-$100 in one day on the field. But I always justify my expensive hobby to others by asking how much it costs to play golf every weekend. Golf clubs can also cost as much as a good paintball gun. And personally I find running from bunker to bunker dodging paintballs with my adrenalin pumping alot more fun than dressing in weird clothes and trying to hit a little ball into a little hole with the sun beating down on my neck giving me a sunburn.
Basically, if you havn't tried paintball for whatever reason, (safety concern, price, etc...) just give a try and you'd be surprised how much you like it! And, NO, GETTING HIT DOESN'T HURT!!! it stings a bit but you barely even notice with your adrenalin pumping.
