I've used 1-800-FLOWERS on many, many occasions, and have never had a quality issue with them in the past. In fact, I've only received positive comments from the recipients - beautiful flowers, great presentation and freshness. The food gifts I've sent were equally well-received.
Overall, deliveries arrived on time. I did have one problem with a delivery, but the company handled it professionally and much to my satisfaction.
I was called away on a business trip and wanted to surprise my wife with flowers for Valentine's Day. I ordered the flowers for delivery a few days prior (to avoid the rush), and they never showed up. I rescheduled delivery, but was not home when they arrived. To make a long story short, we stopped into one of the retail locations (just passing by) and the staff there treated us like royalty. They hand-picked a bouquet and threw in a few extra ones, making the bouquet even bigger and more stunning than the one I originally ordered. In addition, the company gave me a substantial credit on my bill.
All of this says to me that 1-800-Flowers cares about its customers. Occasionally wires get crossed, but they try hard to win back consumer confidence. They are pricey, but you pay for the quality, convenience and service. Delivery mishaps do happen, but for me, this was an exception - not the rule.
I would certainly recommend them to friends, and I frequently use the service with positive results.
