I LOVE to Travel when ever possible. Like everyone else, I want the best deal and price. I receive e-mail updates from lots of airlines, such as, Delta, SouthWest, etc. I currently subscribe to Travelocity.com for "fare watchers", as well.
In October, my in-laws wanted my wife along with myself to come to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida this February. The prices everywhere were very expensive. Here in Idaho, we have Boise International Airport. Airlines feel they can charge the consumers whatever price they want.
That is where Travelocity.com steps in. If you have open travel dates and times, this outstanding site will help you decide when to go on vacation if the price is right. When you receive the price update, click on the link which is provided in your email.
Next, choose how many tickets you would like to purchase. After that, choose the date. If the flight for the discount price is not offered, it will have you select a different date. You will pick your return flight the same way. Write down the flight information, times, dates, etc.. Once you know what airline and flight you would like, it will ask for a credit card to bill. If the transaction has any errors, you can call the airline, let them know the flight numbers, times, dates, etc and you will get the flight for the same price or lower!
The flight price for my wife and I came to $170 per person roundtrip with one stop and change planes in Minnesota and then straight to Ft. Lauderdale. The price is currently $600 per person round trip with 21 day advance purchase!!!!! It was a savings of $860!!!!
I highly recommend using Travelocity.com if you have flexible travel plans :)
