Not Worth My Time

A few weeks ago I watched my roommate purchase a plane ticket on-line. He used the website priceline.com. I constantly see commercials about this website and the commercials make it seem like the best website ever. From watching my roommate purchase this plane ticket I came to think otherwise. Now I've used the website to almost buy a plane ticket but I didn't accept before the site was about to process my order. I came to find out after my roommate bought his ticket you don't get to choose the time you want to leave and return. How miserable is that!
If I'm buying a plane ticket, no matter what the price is, I want to be able to choose my times. I understand that priceline.com searches for the price that you bid for, but I also found out it always doesn't work. If they can't find the price you're looking for they tell you the cheapest one they could find and ask if you would like that ticket. Once again, they don't tell you the time you're leaving or returning until after you tell them you want to purchase the ticket. I find this very inconvenient because then you have can't always work around your schedule to catch the flight and return at the time they give on the ticket.
If I could personally recommend a website to find a cheap flight, I would recommend lowestfare.com. Here you get to choose what time you want to leave as well as the lowest airfare out there. I can't really comment on the other aspects of priceline.com, including their customer service, because I haven't gone back to the website since my roommate purchased that ticket. My roommate ended up having to inconvenience his employer because of the times on the plane ticket, which I don't think is very fair to do but there really wasn't anything he could do since he wasn't able to choose his flight times. I don't think it's worth my time to use priceline.com as an airfare finder and would recommend against anyone else thinking about using it for purchasing airfare.
