Pros: Great shock value. It appeals to our frustrations.
Cons: Needs a better camera view of the target.

How many of you have had a particular appliance give you so much trouble that you wanted to smash it? To take out your frustrations on it? I know I have. In fact I had a cassette deck when I was a teen that always ate tapes. It ate an irreplaceable tape I made at a studio once. When I could afford a better one, I butchered the helpless machine with an axe. My parents laugh about it to this day though it was some 20 years ago.
Whether you hate them or love them, guns are nothing more than a tool. It's the user that makes a tool safe or unsafe. None are inherently unsafe on their own. Most people have been brainwashed to see guns as "politically incorrect," evil, or scary. The facts are the facts. They're just a tool like any other. Would this commercial be so "offensive" if the actor used a chainsaw instead? Or an axe?
On the positive side, the actor was at a proper range, wearing proper safety gear, and exhibiting proper gun handling and safety. Just seeing a public display of responsible gun handling makes this commercial worth airing.
Personally, I love the commercial. It appeals to the frustration that most of us have felt about an appliance at one time or another. Shock value sells. The goal is to attract more reviewers to this site and I think that commercial is one of the most unique and effective ones I've yet seen!
Two thumbs up!
