I am a field service engineer for voice response systems, and a former network manager at a university.
Opinion Ratings: When I rate an opinion, I am simply rating the review you have written and not your opinion. If your review happens to disagree with my opinion and I think you stated the facts and reasons behind your opinion in a thoughtful and logical way, I will rate your opinion highly. If you simply say "This item is a pile of junk" and give no argument to support this, I don't really find the review helpful and will rate the review lower. If the review will not help me make my decision when buying a product, I can not recommend it. Please don't be offended if I rate you lower than "highly recommended", because it is not personal. Also, if I recommend your opinion, it is not an endorsement of the product reviewed, just my opinion that you wrote an informative and helpful review.
