About Eurythmic
|
Here again, gone again, here again.
And so it goes.
I'm really thankful for the opportunity to contribute to such an amazing site, and even more thankful for the fact that some people actually care about the things that I have to say. It makes me feel pretty guilty when I go months between new reviews.
But, "crazy" wouldn't even begin to describe my life, and that's just the way things are. My main obsessions at the moment are bailing myself out of the debt caused by a wasted college career, and trying to rein in my insanely perfectionistic nature long enough to complete my first album.
In between such moments of insanity, I've found the time to get back to writing on Epinions. And I've decided to make a couple of changes.
1. My list of reviews is going to get leaner and meaner. I've always been very opinionated on the topic of music. But when I first became a member of Epinions, now over two years ago, I had a very different mindset where creation was concerned - whether it be music, or writing. I made music because I had to, and I was used to writing because I had to. After all, there were grades to make, and classes to pass. When I found myself in a position where I was writing because I wanted to, I think I was still stick in that "school" mindset. Once I left college, I was able to create - make music, or write - because it was what I loved. I mention this because I think it has changed my style significantly. There's a break of roughly a year in between a couple of my reviews, and frankly, much of what I wrote before that break is embarrassing to me. I've already deleted several of my early reviews, and you may see many more disappear as I decide what to keep, what to rewrite, and what to get rid of.
2. I've always been way too liberal in the way that I rate reviews. I would say that I have a history of tagging more than 90% of what I read with a "Very Helpful", mostly out of fear the writers disgruntled by a "Helpful" would retaliate (Hey, it's happened to me before). I'm not going to do that anymore. Whenever I put a "Very Helpful" on a review that doesn't deserve it, I'm insulting the amazing writers on here that do deserve a "Very Helpful" every single time out.
So, if I do put a "Helpful" on your review, remember: "Helpful" is GOOD! "Very Helpful" is excellent, "Helpful" is good. It's not, "Very Helpful" is good, and everything else is bad. Please keep that in mind.
Thank you so much for reading!
