About madaer
|
I have been with Epinions since July 2000.
I rate writers who rate me, and I rate on things I am interested in, places I might be going, restaurants I might be eating at, services I might be using. If I notice that I have consistently rated someone but have not seen them attempt to rate me, I will not be returning to rate again. An over site is one thing, but if I rate several of one person's reviews it would seem only fair (and polite) to rate mine. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.
I am not as particular in my rating as other epinioners- I tend to follow my own star, and decide for myself what is helpful or not. I find that I need very little information to find a review helpful. I don't need great attention to detail. I feel the best writers are those that can take a thousand words and turn it into a hundred. I do not generally like long reviews. Don't be surprised if you see me rate a review that is rated as a somewhat helpful review as very helpful. I decide what is helpful to me, I do not consider others in the equation, as I am the one reading it.
Overblown, pompous language in reviews is unnecessary, distracts from the point and is overly annoying. I feel those that feel the need to be pretentious are simply trying to impress- well, that won't work on me. Don't be surprised if you see me give a "not helpful" rating to a review that is mainly viewed as "very helpful" if it is written in what I preceive to be a pompous tone.
"Don't say in 50 words what you can say in 20."
"It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness."
"Faith is believing in something when common sense tells you not to."
"By a round of applause, how ya' feeling?"
