So your in the market for a sports car? well I've had any thing from a pinto to a vette! I now drive a 1998 z28 ss convertible and I really like it. I just recently sold a 1997 mustang cobra which had little modifications like headers,exhaust,410 gears,k&n filter, and underdrive pulleys and it ran consisted 12.90et times at the race track. It was a very well put together car and was cheap to work on and buy performances parts for. when it was bone stock it ran 13.70et times which was pretty good too. My friend has a 1999 cobra and it ran 13.60et times and it is stock so thats pretty good also. Back too the bowtie(chevy). OK, my car is all stock except for a k&n air filter. It has an automatic transmission and remember it is a convertible and a conv. is suppose to be slower than a hard top and automatics are slower than 6 speeds and it ran consisted 13.50ets. IMPRESSIVE HUH!!! So you can only imagine what a hard top 6 speed would run. I also feel that the SS handles better than the cobra and for the price you get more options! I also had a Saleen S281 conv., and even though it was the best looking car, it was the slowest and most over priced($40,000). Well now for the top dog, the vette! 1998, six speed, bone stock, and it ran a best time of 13.08 and a worst of 13.24 and handled like a dream! But not everybody has $45,000 to blow. So if your looking for a good, fast, fun, sports car for around $26,000 check out the SSZ28 and Mustang Cobra.
