About rudedog
|
R.F. Kershner (he seldom refers to himself in the first person except in his stories) is a destitute hermit residing in rural Missouri. Both a published poet ("Them Weed-Whackers" copyright c 1996) and a well-known singer-songwriter under the name The Original Fat Boy ("Samuel T. Coleridge Blues", "SMBD/TV Love Song", "Keep on Truckin` for Jesus" and others), he has turned to prose writing due to the chronic back problem that forced him to stop performing and which keeps him in constant, excruciating pain. He gave up writing poems for a different reason ("Poetry is like sex," he said. "I just don`t get it anymore"). He also has very bad psorriasis and last year his hair caught fire. Mr. Kershner`s physical condition has contributed greatly to his previous alcoholism as well as turning him into a prescription drug addict. He is able to write only during those few lucid moments between which the anasthetic effects of the drugs and alcohol begin to ease his tortured body and the onset of total stupor. The remainder of his time is spent waiting patiently for death and staring mindlessly at the screen-saver of his computer monitor. It says, "Keep the Faith, Baby!"
