About Shalott
|
First of all, this photograph of me was taken by my son who was 6 years old at the time. Therefore, it is my favorite photo of me EVER taken. He is now 8 and still a great little photographer.
If you want to know...here is a little about me. I am a voracious consumer of all sorts of "stuff". I buy "stuff", read "stuff" go see "stuff" at the theaters, I guess I am a sucker for "stuff".
I am married, and have 3 children. I also have two dogs. One is nice, one is an insane West Highland White Terrier. My husband is a Police Officer, so I am daily kept down by "the man". He is cute, and he is a pretty nice guy, so I don't mind much. My children are all incredibly brilliant, gorgeous individuals. I suspect the fairies left them on my doorstep.
I have varied interests, depending on what time of day it is. Sometimes I am really interested in gardening, then 5 minutes later, I am profoundly NOT interested in it. I know a little bit about a lot of things, but I guess that would mean I'm not really an expert on any one thing.
When I read a review, I am generally most impressed by people who seem to have at least been able to successfully complete elementary school. I will almost always rate a review "HR" if it makes me laugh. If it is written in an intelligent manner, even if I don't agree, I will generally give it an "HR". It is pretty damned hard to get less than a "HR" from me, to be truthful. Unless of course if someone sets out to act like a knuckle dragging cretin, then I will gladly "NR" or maybe be nice and just "SR".
I cannot stand sanctimonious whiners who leave comments about how people should be more "christian" or be nicer. Unless it is a review about a religious book or movie, etc. , leave religion out of it. That's the way I see it.
I dislike emoticons immensely. I really get quite upset when people use abbreviations such as "u" instead of typing the word "you". I know it is quite long, and very complex, but I find it pretty lazy to attempt to shorten a 3 letter word.
I also really hate it when people type actions. Here is an example...*blows kisses*, or *picks nose*. Whatever, I don't like that. I don't know why, that's just me.
I spent quite a few years of my life studying things that most people never give a second thought to, and there is really no need for them in today's job market. I majored in English Literature with a focus on creative writing, and I minored in Arthurian Legends. (I looked in the want ads, and NOBODY wanted people who know about Tristan and Isolde or The Lady of Shalott, go figure.)
Anyhow, I am a stay at home Mom, and I volunteer at my kid's school a LOT of the time. It is so bad that all the kids show me their loose teeth, and tell me about their Daddy getting drunk and over- drawing the checkbook. I hear all sorts of stuff that I don't really want to hear, but I guess the kids needed an expert in Arthurian Legends to draw them out of their shells.
I am a Pagan activist and very involved in my family's faith. I am a High Priestess, but I don't bring it into stuff unless it is relevant to the subject.
I find many things interesting, and will read a review about almost anything.
I am embarrassed by most of my earlier reviews, but am too lazy to delete them.
There are several people here whose writing I read almost daily. I find their writing to be pretty damned close to brilliant, and always amusing.
I have no idea how to link anyone to anything, so I will just tell you who they are:
Lobstergirl- I cannot remember a time I laughed harder than I did at her Mary Kay review. Read her stuff, believe me, it is fantastic.
Sloucho- Great writer. His hot sauce review is worth reading, for sure. Be warned, don't be drinking anything that could possibly come shooting out of your nose when you read his stuff.
Sordid-1 - Funny, smart, and I found a lot of the people I enjoy reading through his stuff. He led me to the promised land, I guess you could say. My reading was totally devoid of humor until I stumbled upon his stuff.
Proeditor - Another one who cracks me up. She is one funny woman. Read her, and weep because you aren't her.
Those are a few. There are more, but those are a few good ones to check out.
Read my stuff if you want, rate or don't rate, I don't get bent out of shape about any of it. I like to read comments, and that helps me find the people whose stuff I enjoy reading. I almost think that is the most fun of this site.
