Are you new to the epinions.com website? I've attempted to answer the questions that I'm accustomed to hearing from newcomers to epinions in a review entitled
Epinions--What's in It for You?
I'm told that if I want to be financially successful at epinions.com, I should concentrate on one particular area of expertise. Well, apart from having no real area of expertise, I'm a little bit skeptical of the idea that it is even possible to be financially successful at epinions. I do this for the sake of kicks and shameless self-promotion (perhaps not in that order), which means that my writing is all over the place. I used to keep a journal in which I really did nothing but review the new things that made their way into my life anyway. In my short time at epinions, I've discovered that it's sort of amusing to keep a public diary in which one reduces oneself to the level of a pure consumer. As an added bonus, I'm learning how to express myself without studding every sentence with profanity. (I'm not saying vanilla speech is all it's cracked up to be, but it is a sort of challenging change of pace.)
Be that as it may, since there are those of you who might not yet be persuaded that every word that falls from my fingertips is golden and that every single review of mine is worthy of the attention of a college seminar, I have categorized my opinions so that those with very particular tastes will not be forced to skip over some gem of mine simply because it's lost in the distant past.

HOW TO CHOOSE SOCKS
SUPPLEMENTAL READING
Although I can heartily recommend anyone on my WOT as a worthwhile read, I want to call special attention to the following (usually for having made me laugh aloud at least once):
1) jkkelley - funny, intelligent; does multiple fezzes.
2) mptang - funny, intelligent; does obligatory sex paragraphs.
3) Sundogg99 - funny, intelligent; does everything with fun and intelligence.
4) Kellydeal - funny, intelligent; does the intricacies of being Kellydeal under the pretense of discussing music, etc.
(Having overused a certain pair of adjectives, I'll move relentlessly forward in my effort to beat two new terms into the ground.)
5) kboo - witty, thorough, and irritatingly consistent in her production of top-notch, professional reviews; does restaurants, travel.
6) cynicalone - witty, thorough, and eerily stubborn when it comes to explaining whether he is a 'cynic alone' or a 'cynical one'; does media and restaurants.
7) marniad - witty, thorough, and patient enough to be married to moi; does hotels and restaurants and embarrassing narratives concerning dogs, x-ray machines, and my own absent-mindedness.
8) Proadvance - witty, thorough, and the closest that this site comes to providing a one-man consumer reports service.
(Okay, so it's more difficult to make that double adjective thing work than I initially imagined. Much to everyone's relief, I'll abandon it.)
9) Nathsmom - unbelievably, hysterically, unstoppably funny. Don't let the name fool you; this lady is a real treat.
10) Eplovejoy - gifted, hilarious movie reviewer. Check out all of his stuff, but be sure not to miss his piece on Bringing Up Baby, probably my favorite movie review on the site.
11) Sordid-1 - epinions.com's resident wit. Someone was kind enough to send me a note saying Sordid-1 might just be the funniest writer on epinions; he might just be. See for yourself.
12) rich2003dm - someone who has been around much longer than I, but whom I only discovered after epinions beta was released. He's the sort of sidesplittingly funny writer that makes sticking around seem attractive.
13) Mangiotto - often hilarious, always perceptive. Walter is, in my opinion, the best film reviewer on the site.
14) Hard_To_Please - claims to have a full-time job, though that is doubtful given the time that he finds to produce reviews that are hilarious and comments that are funnier still.
15) 29th_Candidate - would that I had discovered this inspired (and inspiring) writer long ago. Jim is so brilliant with words that he'll make you smile even when he's not being funny.
If You Don't Mind Taking Your Stick Out of Your Stick-Storage Area, These Writers Know How to Show You a Good Time
1) annexation - a rollicking rogue whose exuberant wit is absolutely unmarred by self-conscious preening.
2) repulsemonkey - is a primate in need of your love, even if he feels compelled to drive you away.
3) tipu - makes it possible for you to visit a comedy club in the comfort of your own home (by which I mean drinks will be reasonably priced and readily available and you won't have to go through that awkward phase of wondering whether you need to tip the bathroom attendant every time you avail yourself of the toilet). Tipu will be paid in hard-earned pennies for your visit, but you should send me a few dollars for tipping you off, since I'm saving you money.
4) lobstergirl - our old friend Lance Myboil has mastered a tone of cheerfully sustained rage. Funny stuff here.
5) Fez Monkey - as the monkey himself says, "there is nothing in life that can't be made better by adding a monkey and a fez." Hasta la Fez siempre, Monkey man.
