"If you are going to walk on thin ice, you might as well dance."
I'm not sure who to attribute that particular witticism to, but it has become my oft-practiced philosophy for life these days. Don't believe me? Just ask my ex-boss.
So, who am I and what do I want here at Epinions?
31 years of age am I, but a child at heart. I'm often downright silly, and I'm known to be a little funky every now and again.
Though I'd like to say I spend my days writing and reading Epinions, like most of you, I do have a day job. Currently I'm employed as a Claims Specialist at a small-but-expanding medical billing company.
Prior to this, I spent three years as a Department Supervisor at a Barnes & Noble superstore. I loved the job, adored the books, and I'd probably still be there if my boss wasn't such a pompous ass with (as a friend of mine so eloquently says) a monumental Napolean complex.
But I'm not still angry. No, not me.
What's my writing background? Well, I have a B.A. in Writing and Literature, and experience writing in a multitude of fields. Though I consider myself primarily a fiction writer, I love to review products and pen editorials.
For several years, I wrote regular, feature articles and reviews for a small science fiction publication called "The Trekker". Not a "trekkie" by nature, I primarily wrote about "The X-Files" and other science fiction television, movies, and books.
So what do I write about here at Epinions? Well, a little bit of everything. My interests are so varied that I can't really imagine specializing as some do. If I feel strongly about something, be it good or bad, then it's fair game for reviewing.
Oh, and I have oodles of advice for college students.
On a more personal note...
I've been married for 7 years to a wonderful, loving, generous husband, who would do anything for me. He proves it on a daily basis by humoring my increasingly bizarre whims. What more can I say?
I'm crazy about animals, and my three cats are like my three furry children. Dusty, my oldest, is a gray tiger stripe. Dusty, the alpha cat of the pack, is definitely my baby. He and my husband have a love hate relationship. Lick. Bite. Snuggle. Bite. Purr. Bite.
Gizmo, a tortoiseshell Persian,is my middle child. Beautiful and shy, Gizmo is my most well-behaved cat, though she does have the irritating habit of eating my books sometimes. Paper...tasty!
And then there's Bandit, my youngest. Black and white, he's sweet and affectionate through and through. He's inquisitive and sleeps across my knees every night.
As for my other interests, well, I'm a huge devotee of "The X-Files". I love science fiction, horror, and all things supernatural.
An avid reader, I'm a big fan of Stephen King and science fiction's superstar, Greg Bear.
Having grown up on Long Island, NY (or The Island -- notice the caps -- as New Yorkers like to call it), I'm an island girl at heart. I've had a lifelong love of the ocean, and though I now live too far inland, I return to my seaside roots every chance I get.
Do you have a question?
If you have a question about one of my reviews or about how I rate, feel free to e-mail me. I'd just ask that you put Epinions in the subject field of your message. I get so much junk mail and I wouldn't want your message to get lost in the pile.
If you have time to read only one of my Epinions, please make it this one:
