I ordered a Britax Boulevard seat for my 5 month old daughter on March 23. I received the seat 4 days after I ordered it but it was the incorrect pattern. I called customer service to see about exchanging it and they told me I needed to email pics of the seat to prove it was incorrect. After doing this they sent out a call tag to have the seat picked up from my house. They received the seat on April 4 and today is the 25th and my card has still not been credited. I have called several times and I am always told something different. Last week I was told my card was credited on the 16th today I was told my card was credited on the 24th. So unless you are absolutely sure you will be keeping the item you are ordering I wouldn't recommend this site to order from.

I ordered a Frog stroller, and after placing the order I just got an email of confirmation. I never received any information on tracking, etc. So I sent them three emails throughout the three days after the purchase (no answer). At the third day I called customer service, only to be told that the item was not in stock!! Note that as per company policy, when items are not in stock they are signalled as such when ordering... Not for this item! The customer service was very kind and quick, and proceeded to cancel my order, as I requested. A waste of three days waiting. It could have gone worse, but also better... Will go and pick up the stroller at my nearest store (am sick of online orders)

I have been quite satisfied with Baby Universe overall, however, I ordered the Ellis 4-in-one crib back in September 2004 and it was suppose to be in stock when I ordered it on-line. The next day, I get a call from them saying it was out of stock but would be in stock by mid to late October. Long story short, I just now received the crib, January 2005. I do not blame Baby Universe per say but the communication between the manufacturer and Baby Universe needs much improvement. I did appreciate Baby Universe giving me a discount for the inconvenience though. The Baby Einstien videos I ordered along with the crib came very fast as I assume all of their 'in-stock' items do.
We recently ordered a car-seat from Baby Universe. The merchandise we received was damaged upon arrival. After my first call to Baby Universe I was promised that the defective merchandise will be picked up and replaced immediately. Then after nothing has happened for a week I kept on calling every day, spent hours on hold with the Baby Universe Customer Service and now two weeks later and after countless calls to Baby Universe the damaged shipment is still here with us and Baby Universe seems to ignore our request to pick-up the damaged shipment and credit the amount we have already paid. A terrible experience - They take your money, but after that you are on your own !

I found the prices at Baby Universe to be good, but the customer service was poor, actually nonexistent as another reviewer put it. I ordered a crib bedding set, which was sent to me from an outside store (not Baby Universe). This would have been fine, except it was the completely wrong order. So when I tried to contact Baby Universe about the mix up (email and telephone), I got NO RESPONSE. Their phone system leads you to nowhere. So I shipped the incorrect items back to Baby Universe (at my own expense of course) requesting an exchange. I still have not heard back from them. Don't shop here if you want good customer service.

The item we ordered was listed as in stock. It wasn't. We didn't find out that it was out of stock until 14 days later when we asked "where is our item, please send the tracking number". We were then told "the item is on backorder for another 2 weeks".
Nice of them to let us know. So we asked to have the order cancelled & to receive a refund. It's been nearly a week now and still no refund to our paypal account.
The nightmare began when I ordered a valance and fitted sheet from Baby Universe. I never received an order # and sat on hold for 12 minutes before a person actually picked up the phone. I received the valance 3-4 days later though expecting a 2-week lead-time. Their website states that "you will receive an email with shipping information once your order ships." but I never did. Where's the fitted sheet? I sent an email to Baby Universe to locate the fitted sheet and never heard back. On hold again waiting for someone to answer. NOTE - They charged my credit card for the entire balance. I'm sticking with babycenter.com
UPDATE 2/2/07 - Still no fitted sheet. On 1/26/07 their CSR promised to send an email with an update on the fitted sheet. She never did. I called 1/29/07 and got an answering service whom told me that Baby Universe was "too busy" to answer the phone. I called Mastercard company and filled a complaint against Baby Universe. Mastercard is going after them since they billed me on 1/3/07 and never shipped the item! TELL everyone you know do not shop with this merchant.

I recently purchased furniture from the baby universe web site after 6 weeks they finally shipped the furniture, I emailed customer service 4 times with no response. After 3 more weeks I still did not receive my furniture, I called 3 times waiting on hold for over 20 min. each time. When I did finally get through the customer service rep told me that she would investigate and get back to me - I was skeptical that I would here back but she assured me that she would. I never heard back - I spent over $2000 and they acted like they couldn't care less about me or my order. I wish I had checked this website before ordering from them. Get your baby products somewhere else, this website is terrible.
This has been the most horrible shopping experience. I ordered a diaper bag 3 weeks ago,(March 2nd) and still have not received it. I have spoken to customer service NUMEROUS times, and feel like I am getting the runaround. One time they will tell me the delay is because they have moved their warehouse, and the next time, they tell me it is a problem with the manufacturer. Today, they told me they are crediting me 10% on my order, but if I call again and complain, they won't do anything else. I was also told they didn't know when I would get my item, but I would get it "at some point." They told me they could cancel my order if I didn't want to wait, but that at this time, they have no idea where my item is. **Update it is now March 30th, and I still haven't received my diaper bag, I will NEVER EVER purchase anything from Baby Universe again. I ordered a Britax Companion car seat and Preview stroller in early July. My credit card was charged for both items. I received the stroller in a week, with no clear indication that the other item would be shipped separately. When I called, they said they had run out of the car seat, but had just gotten a shipment in, and it would ship within the week. It's been almost two weeks with no further communication, so I called today. The customer service rep told me that there was a shipment due on 8/15 (she had no knowledge of the 7/19 shipment). Meanwhile, they've had my money for almost a month, and wanted to keep it longer.
After their misinformation and poor communication, I don't trust them on the new date, and if it goes beyond that, it's cutting too close for me. Besides, reputable companies don't charge credit cards until the items are ready to ship. I cancelled the order. I won't order from them again.

Website was as expected for an online retailer. Our little one is now almost 11 months and we wanted a chair where it could be used in different ways for feeding. The Combi Hero seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Unfortunately, after 6 business days had passed on an order that "usually ships in 1 or 2 days", I began to get concerned. An e-mail to customer service yielded no more than a boilerplate answer of what is on the website and a request to wait another week and a half and to contact them if it had not been received by then. Requests as to whether or not they item was in stock (as I expected from "usually ships in 1 or 2 days) were met with additional double talk. Being in the industry and managing the systems that ship about 3,000 packages a day, this level of information for a customer is unaccptable. In fact, I'd lose my job. All I can do with Baby Universe is elect not to shop at this e-tailer again.

Terrible experience. I ordered a stroller as a gift for shower. They said it would be 7-10 days before I received it.Two weeks later still hadn't received it. I called and they gave me a date that I would have it by. That was another two weeks. On that date still did not arrive, I called and they said they were out of stock on stroller and was waiting for shipment from mfg. They never mentioned being out of stock on item on previous conversations. I asked to speak to Supervisor. I told her how important it was for me to receive this stroller by the following Friday, she said no problem " you have my personal Guarantee " that you will have it by then. On the day I was supposed to receive it she called and said, "I'm sorry we have to cancel your order.
Horrible Customer service. I will never order from this Company again. Shouldn't make promises you can't keep.

This was the worst internet shopping experience I've ever had. I placed an order on 13-MAR-2006 anticipating at least a 2 week delivery time.
After 3 weeks, I called on Monday to ask what the status was (as they had already charged my card) and the first person I talked said that the items should be shipped out that week, no later than Friday. Friday came and still no update to the order status on the website. I called again...waited on hold for 30 minutes only to be disconnected, then called again and talked to another woman (who was very nice BTW). She said that they could give me a 10% credit, but it could be another couple of weeks before I receive my order.
I finally decided that all the time and effort tracking this order was not worth the money I saved ordering from them, so I cancelled my order on 03-APR-2005. It took minutes for them to charged my card initially and took them SEVEN days to issue a credit.

My overall experience was horrible. One, they charge you an outrageous amount for handling costs. Two: if you don't like your product, you have to pay for shipping yourself. This is the only online company that I've used that has the returner pay for shipping returns. It's okay for them to charge you shipping and handling charges but they WILL NOT pay for your returns even if you didn't get what you wanted. My shipment got to my house 1.5 weeks later and it's not what I wanted. Then, I had to pay for the return. I ended up paying more for shipping and handling than what I paid for the product. I think I reserve the right to charge them handling charges.

I ordered the Britax Roundabout car seat and when I ordered it, it was in stock. They promise same day shipping if it's ordered by 2pm, 24 hours later they were sold out. I called to see if they shipped my order, after waiting 10 minutes to talk to someone they tell me its back-ordered, but hey, they conveniently charged my credit card for $180 and couldn't tell me when to expect my merchandise. One week later their site says, "no longer available". I called again, and had to wait 10 minutes again (by the way, I think its an automatic 10 mins you have to wait regardless of how busy they are since the three times I've called it's been the same automated response). They now say it'll be a few weeks before I receive it, but they never sent me anything telling me that, and on top all of this, they tell me that they no longer have my address therefore they couldn't have sent it to me anyway, but yet they had my address to charge my credit card. Canceled my order.

No mother would put it near their baby. The worst part is, I had to endure the 30% re-stocking fee even though I was completely unsatisfied with the merchandise. The company does not adhere to the idea that the customers' satisfaction is what is most important. Purchase and delivery are ok. BUT, the customer service totally sucks!!! BabyTV.com once had a promotion of giving cash back of $50 on purchase of $200 made through babyuniverse.com. I made a qualified purchase of $250 within required time period, and mailed out all the required documents. 3 months later, I called to track my cash back and was told they never received my submission and won't issue the cash back by all means even I re-mail all the documents. Anyway, their customer service sounds that they don't care what a customer would think about them in such a situation.
So, if you shop from BabyUniverse.com without any trouble like delivery delay, cash back delay, wrong order, etc., you're fine. Otherwise, their will for sure drive you mad. All you're gonna hear is "I'm sorry, I can't..."
I won't shop there any more no matter how attractive their prices are.

I was surprised when it was obviously I wanted it in a hurry. Instead it was shipped out Tuesday afternoon. Placed an order through Amazon - painless. However - they never shipped my product. Since they don't offer online order status I called for an update. They told me one warehouse was out of stock so the order transferred to another warehouse. The 'new' warehouse wouldn't respond to the customer service reps request for a status so she basically told me she had no idea when or even if my product would ship. They happily cancelled my order for me without any concern that they had mishandled it.

I places an order on 9/19. One item was on back order and received 16 days late. I had to do the research to find out where my items was. They never contacted me to tell me the item was on back order. I left 5 messages with TMS, Baby Universe's answering service. I left messages because EVERYBODY is in staff meetings Thurs until 2pm Eastern Time. Customer Service is the worst I have ever dealt with on-line or in brick and mortar stores. I was told they don't have a customer service policy, just be rude and collect peoples money. I will never do business with Baby Universe and you shouldn't either. I also found my items cheaper at Target.

This is the WORST internet shopping experience I have ever had and it is not over. I would caution anyone from dealing with this company. I get the feeling it is run out of someone's garage. First, be careful ordering anything remotely related to "bedding" as there is a 30% restocking fee if you are not happy with your purchase. You never receive ANY paper work/receipt with your order and must call them to request to return an item. I ordered curtains that were advertised as being 84" long and 30" wide. They arrived 5 weeks later and were 30" long and 84" wide. Initially, they told me that I would have to pay the restocking fee. I refused as the problem is with their website description. They then said FedEx would pick up and only then would I receive a credit. That was 4 weeks ago! I am still waiting for them to pick up the box on my porch and I have called numerous times to complain. The last wait time just to talk to customer service was more than 20 minutes!!!

I called Baby Universe to make sure the item I wanted was in stock and was told it was and shipped within 3 days. I therefore placed the order. This, however, was untrue despite the assurances of Baby Universe's customer service it was not shipping and would not do so for at least another 6 weeks. Moreover, it was not until I inquired about the status that Baby Universe saw fit to inform me that it was not available for shipment. In addition, despite not having an item to ship Baby Universe charged my credit card for the item immediately.

I just ordered and received a Britex Marathon car seat system as a shower gift for my niece. First of all, it was listed $30 cheaper that babiesrus.com plus free shipping. Then I used a 10% off coupon and there was no sales tax. It was delivered to my door three days earlier than promised and I save over $65. I am so impressed! It showed up during the baby shower so I was able to give it to her instead of the "IOU" certificate. Baby Universe "I love you!"
A week after I put in my order, I called their customer service and was told that they will ship it in one more week. Then a week later I got email from them saying that "oops we encountered a problem with your recent order" and that it will only be shipped in two more weeks. (At this point I canceled my order, no reason to think that they will indeed ship it in two more weeks or ever.)

I ordered a car seat on a Wednesday and it arrived 2 days later on Friday. We were so surprised. It was in perfect condition in the original manufacturers box. With an online coupon we found, the free shipping and no sales tax we saved over $60 over buying it in a BRU store.

I bought a beautiful Lauren Crib by Da Vinci from Baby Universe. The crib arrived in beautiful shape, and looked exactly as described on line. I am very happy with it. Although the shipping time was slow (I wanted it here yesterday), my understanding is that they do not carry this product in stock, and were waiting for it to be shipped from the distributor. I would buy from them again.

we were looking for a second stroller,lightweight and compact. we actually tried that stroller, among others, before, so when we saw it at BabyUniverse.com at 50% off we immediately decided to purchase it.
we placed an order, and within a week we had the stroller.
so in a nutshell we had very good shopping experience:
great price, fast delivery, and of course a great stroller. the good thing is we also liked the color they had on sale.
Baby Universe represented this item as "in stock" and "order will process in 10 - 14 days". When a full month went by and their web site still said "order waiting to be shipped", I called them, and they said that the 10 - 14 day processing time was for construction of the toy box, and that it would take 2 weeks to ship it after that. One month and it still has not been shipped. Skip the "free shipping" gig - you get what you pay for. Pay the extra $20 and have this product on time.

I recently made my first purchase on BabyUniverse.com ~ an infant car seat base. The site clearly stated that this item would be delivered within 2-5 business days. After waiting 2.5 weeks without receiving the item nor any communication, I contacted Customer Service. I was told that my item "would be shipped 4 days from now" due to a backorder from the manufacturer. If they keep their word (which Im not holding my breath), delivery will be roughly 3-4 weeks from date of purchase/payment.
No matter what condition my item arrives, BabyUniverse.com is not worthy of any repeat business. In fact, I'm still trying to decide which is worse: having to wait 3-4 weeks for an item promised within a few days (with no reference to drop-shipping and no stock-on-hand), or never being contacted after 18 days that my item is on backorder.

Terrible. I would say run and don't ever shop there. I ordered a stroller and it was told to me that it was in stock, however after waiting over a week I finally called and the stroller was out of stock and no one ever called or emailed, but took my money. Then I canceled my order and it never showed up as a credit on my card. I called over 5 times and I spent at least 30 minutes dealing with them. I was on hold every time I called for at least 15 minutes. When I was being helped, I would get put on hold for minutes and no one would return to tell me what was going on. I did not want to hang up the phone because I would have to call back and be put on hold all over again. They claim they care about their costumer service, What Costumer Service!

Horrible customer service! They charged my credit card before shipping my order, then the order sat in their database for two weeks without any activity. I contacted customer service 5 times via telephone and e-mails to find out the status of the order; my e-mails went unanswered, and none of the reps I spoke with could give a definitive answer on anything. And not surprisingly, the "manager" I asked to speak with was on another call and couldn't help me at the time. Cancelled the order and will never do business with again!
I bought a Britax Boulevard from them. I ordered it on a Sunday, it arrived early Thursday morning. Shipping was free, it was easy to order it, they kept me updated as to where my package was. Very good company to work with, I'll do business with them again.

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. Sent the wrong color stroller. Nothing is actually in stock, they order everything from the manufacturer and it is shipped from the manufacturer. They have no clue how to handle any problems and are inept at solving any of them. They have terrible communication skills. After fed ex picked up the wrong stroller I was conveniently informed that the correct color was on backorder for a month, imagine that. THIS SITE IS NOTHING BUT FRAUD. THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN AND NEED TO BE REPORTED TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.

I fell of my chair when the FedEx guy rang. Anyways the reason I'm very satisfied with Baby Universe .com is that I called trying to get the Chicco C1 in Metallica. Noone has them and waiting is 4-8 weeks depending who you ask. They were fair and said that they can not guarantee delivery in 3-4 weeks.
I went for Peg A3, that they had for 314$ and free shipping.
Only 'complaint' is that the tracking info for the order arrived 1 day after the stroller.
The site was very easy to shop. I found exactly what I was looking for, a Britax Parkway Booster for my 2 year old and a Britax Roundabout car seat for my baby. I looked all over the web and their prices were the best and they had free shipping!
No troubles at all in the order process. I ordered on Sept 30th and my products were shipped less than 48 hours later and I received an email with the Fed Ex tracking numbers. The estimated delivery date was Oct 5 but they got here a day early. VERY SHORT SHIPPING TIME!
I got exactly what I expected, everything arrived safely and in great shape!
I had no need to contact customer service but based on my experience shopping this time, I would shop there again. Also the emails confirming my purchase and containing the tracking information came really quick!

I do not recommend Baby Universe at all. I tried to order Peg Perego Aria Twin Stroller. The site was offering free shipping and a good price. I received a confirmation email stated the stroller would be shipped shortly. Two weeks later and no stroller. I emailed their customer service department, 24 hours later I receive an email stating they no longer carried the stroller. I wonder what would have happened if I did not email them?
Overall, I would use caution with this site and think twice if you are in a hurry for an item.

I was incredibly disappointed with my experience at Baby Universe. I ordered a stroller online and called customer service a week later to check the status of my order. I was told they had to contact their "warehouse" and to wait 1 to 2 days and I would have an answer. After 2 days passed with no answer I called customer service again and received the same 1 to 2 day answer. The next day I did receive an e-mail stating the stroller was shipping in the next few days. As I was nearing an upcoming trip, I called the same day to check the exact date of shipment and again given the 1 to 2 day answer. Later, that day I received an e-mail stating the stroller had been dicontinued, they would credit my card, and sorry for the inconvenience. Yes, an inconvenience! I initiated 3 phone calls in a week only to find out I was being sold a discontinued stroller in the first place!

I purchase a stroller from Baby Universe. The product was shipped from the manufacture and was defective. Baby Universe's customer service was outstanding from the beginning to the end. They were extremely nice and prompt.
I placed my order on the 19th and received a confirmation email promptly. I was worried my custom order item would hold up the rest of the order, so I called customer service. I was told that the items would ship at different times from different locations, so it wouldn't hold things up. A couple days later I noticed my credit card was charged for the order the day I placed it. I didn't get around to tracking it, and a week went by. I went to track it thinking it must be coming any day now. WRONG! It hasn't even been shipped yet, and they have no idea when it WILL ship!! I canceled the order and placed it with another company. I won't be using them again! They should not be charging your card until the order ships, or else inform you that your card IS charged right away, before the order actually ships. It seems most reviewers had a good experience with this company. I didn't, so I won't be using them again. I hope they refund my credit card.

No apology given for not communicating this. Stroller then backordered twice; pushed back until the point that it was no longer available at all. Oh--and by the way--they charged my credit card for the stroller the minute it was ordered and thus I paid for it two months ago!!

I ordered a bassinet that had a decorative fabric liner around the bassinet. When it arrived, there was mold and rust stains on the fabric. Not the most desirable or sanitary condition for our little bundle of joy. I called the manufacturer as directed and was told they had discontinued that model in 2005 and to contact Baby Universe. Baby Universe was very unhelpful and said we would have to ship it back and wait for their decision. Where's the baby to sleep when I send back the entire product vs. just sending back the damaged material? I wouldn't put my trust in this company.
I purchased eight Kidco Adhesive Mount Locks from Baby Universe. The order was processed and delivered quickly. I was not happy with the product and have emailed Baby Universe on three separate occasions. I have not yet received a response. Their customer service is nonexistent and I would NOT recommend this online retailer to anyone.

I was very impressed with their service. I ordered three Britax car seats and received them the very next morning! They are based out of Florida, so I was surprised to receive it so quickly since I live in California. I found out, looking through their site, that they have warehouses spread throughout the country, so that really helps speed up delivery time. The customer service rep was very helpful and courteous. I really appreciated the 10% group discount she was able to offer me (since I was ordering so many). Baby products are so expensive, that every bit of savings counts. I immediately received an email confirmation of my order, along with tracking information. I will definitely pass their site along to my friends.

I ordered a crib and it arrived defective. I contacted them to request a UPS call tag to pick up the crib. Never came. I called back again. Again no UPS tag. I called back a 3rd and 4th time, at which point they told me I needed to provide a serial number. Then I received an email saying they were working on getting me replacement parts. The matter is still unresolved. I just want to return the item free of charge and have had a horrible experience doing so.

I ordered a higher end umbrella stroller from Baby Universe and automatically received free shipping. I also found a coupon code online for 10% off. So, the product was on sale for $10 off, I got another $10 off with the coupon, and also got free shipping. It was an incredible deal.
I had read horror stories about shipping from Baby Universe AFTER I had ordered my product, so I was nervous that it would be a nightmare. I ordered the product on Sunday night and sure enough, Monday afternoon I got shipping confirmation for my order and a tracking number. Here I sit on Wednesday morning and UPS says that my order will arrive at my door sometime today.
You can't beat 3-day shipping when shipping is free! I would definitely purchase from Baby Universe again!!

Found a beautiful stroller, and have recieved terrible customer service. Infact the stroller came to $760.00 with shipping. There was much confusion when it came to pay for the item though they never explained what the problem was but that it was on their end. Eventually I recieved it in slightly damaged condition after the store repacked it at their depot. There was also an item missing. USPS complained at which the manner it was packed and sent. I am still waiting for my replacement items almost a month later with no indication they have been sent although I have spoken to a senior customer service person twice. I will not purchase from this company again, they have a good range of items but their service is very disappointing.
I placed an order for Clover Leaf products on January 30th and still have not received my entire order. I finally received part of my order last week. It is now mid April and I'm baffled. What could possible take so long? I'm extremely upset. I thought I was being smart by ordering 4 months before the baby is due but now see that it was barely enough time for them. The customer service has been nothing but rude to me. Informing me that the 4-6 weeks is going to take 2 weeks longer each time that I called. Please beware of the Baby Universe retailers!

I ordered a Peg Perego stroller from babyuniverse that was supposedly in stock. Order was placed on Saturday, I checked the website for order status on the following Friday, and it said it had been ordered from the manufacturer. There was no expected date of delivery listed, and my debit card was charged with the $297 from the date I ordered the item. How they can charge before the item is shipped is beyond me. I called customer service (the rep was very polite) and was advised that this is their policy to charge even before something ships as they don't actually carry their own stock. My experience with this particular stroller is it is usually hard to find, so I know it will be weeks, if not months before its available. I called and cancelled the order, specifically because they charge customers before they know that something is really available, and well before the item ships. Avoid this company at all costs. I am going to go to Babies R US and buy the stroller for $40 more. What this company does is highly unethical, misleading and bordering on illegal.

I ordered a changing table from this company and the experience has been awful. When I placed the order, the site stated that there was a potential for the order processing to take up to 10-14 days. On the 14th business day I called as I had not received any information regarding the approximate shipping date and time frame. The customer service was not helpful in any way and I still have no answers. They were very quick to charge my credit card on the first day that I placed the order, however.
Ordered a car seat Wednesday evening with regular free shipping. Received seat on Friday morning. Incredibly fast. Lowest price too. Would order from again.

They told me that the people at the combi manufacturer were at a trade showw last week so their orders are backed up... I find this a little hard to believe... every employee was at the show??
I told them I wanted to cancel my order and they said they would put in a request but it could take up to 24 hours to recieve comfirmation from the manufacturer. We'll see if I ever get my money back from these crooks!

The worst online buying experience I've ever had. I purchased a fairly expensive car seat. I had to constantly check in Baby Universe's website for a status that never changed. I never got any updates nor any email confirmations. I finally called to check on my order. Someone answered my call immediately but was put on hold for 9 minutes (my phone has a clock) to get a response regarding my order. I was finally told that my order had not shipped and it takes up to 10 business days to process the orders. I ordered a similar item at another online store and I already have the item I bought. The only reason I used Baby Universe to begin with was because I had a gift certificate.
Website said product would be delivered in 7-10 days. Ordered on February 11th at Midnight and received product on February 21st. Would order from them again.

I ordered a crib mattress at Baby Universe, I was told it would be shipped out with 2-3 business days. 5 business days later, I checked my order online and saw that they had charged my credit card. BUT, the mattress status was still "waiting to be shipped". I contacted them and was told that this mattress was not in stock, and that they did not have a redelivery date from the manufacturer for any time soon! I wish they would have informed me at the time of purchase, as I didn't have an unlimited time frame to wait (baby on the way). They did not credit my card right away, even though I asked to cancel the order. They said they would have to wait to get confirmation from the manufacturer. I do not like at all that they were very quick to charge my card (most companies charge you when the item is shipped out) and that now I have to wait for approval to get a credit, and I am still waiting!!! This is ridiculous, and I would never shop there again.

Bought a stroller, the site showed "ground transit time" 5 days. after 10 day, I called and found out it's just been shipped.
The customer service is argumentative and try to blame me for not understanding that the 5 days meant "processing time" , and that it's still "on time".
I email them about this, and they replied with the same attitude: no appology, no intent to improve their site so other customer won't be confused; just being defensive.
That kind of customer service is what I would avoid when ordering online - what if something wrong with the product? would they just try to blame me for it and not to take any responsibility?

I ordered two Britax seats. One was out of stock as was stated on the website. However, I got the first seat in a very timely matter. The second was shipped on day stated on the web site...so I have no complaints. FedEx almost lost the second seat, but that was taken care of the following day and now I have both seats and am very happy. Customer service was polite when I called about the FedEx issue.

I placed an order online for a lightweight stroller. Baby Universe had a great selection, with very competitive prices. When I purchased my stroller they also had a free shipping offer. I was able to place my order easily, receiving many e-mails afterwards updating me as to the status of my order. My stroller arrived promptly (even during the holiday shipping season) and in excellent shape. The description of the stroller matched exactly to the product that I received. I also appreciated the customer reviews of the products--they helped me decide what product would be right for my needs. I would definitely order from them again!
They are not a reputable merchant. Period. I made a purchase through shopping.com for a double snap and go on September 1st. I didn't hear from them, but the payment went through. When I called on September 6, they said that they didn't have an order for the item, just the payment and they refused to process the order. Their point of view is that if there is a software problem, it is up to the customer to solve it.
Great experience with ordering the Maclaren Twin stroller. As promised, promptly received order confirmation number and tracking number. The (free!!) shipping was amazingly fast -- within one week of order received the stroller flawless and neatly packaged. Would definitely use this seller again and would recommend it to others.
I ordered a fisher price papasan cradle swing. I received an email the next day saying it was out of stock and I opted to wait. couple days later on checking their site I noticed the price had gone up more than double. That same day I discovered the purchase had been refunded to me with out any notification from them. Later I found out that they were refusing to honor that purchase price as it was mispriced.
I will never shop with them and will pass the word around about their dishonest dealings.

My order was promply shipped, but yet to be delivered. Customer service(CS) was a disservice, and I doubt they'll have any more of my business. BU's product selection was decent, but they do need to work on their attitudes at customer service. AND they need to work things out with FedEx, because I sense major disorganization in that area.
The only reason I would not recommend this site to a friend is because of their CS issues and their lack of concern for the customers. I ordered a Britax Marathon car seat and it's over 5 days late. The tracking number on the FedEx site is no help. This is because in the last update on my Britax, it was departed from the FedEx location in Orlando, but has yet to make it to Saint Louis? I have no idea what the issues are but at this rate they'll never make Forbes list.
Just save your time. If you can find it at babyage or dreamtimebaby, get it there.

I waited for my tracking number never got one. I did get the stroller on 9/21/06 WRONG STROLLER I call cancel my order ask my CC be refunded. It's 9/26/06 and waiting for the stroller to be picked up Fedex. I order the same stroller for HappyMothers.com on 9/24/06
for $113.00. I received a tracking number on 9/25 and today it's 0n FedEx vehicle for delivery.

Ordered a Disney Princess Keyboard Vanity from babyuniverse.com on 12/8. Received order confirmation on 12/9 saying the item was Located in-stock and I should expect the item to be delivered between 12/11 and 12/16. 2 emails to their customer support confirmed that the item was indeed in stock and would be shipped as soon as it was processed. I received an email on 12/15 saying the order had been cancelled and the item was no longer available. I feel like I was lied to and led to believe they had something when they did not.

My wife and I decided on a crib we wanted to buy. We found it available online at both Target and Baby Universe. The price of the crib was identical, but Target was going to charge tax and another $70 for shipping and handling. Baby Universe did not charge tax, offered shipping and handling for only $6.95 and, when I asked the Baby Universe representative on the phone if any other discounts were available, I was given an additional 10% of the price of the crib! I save approximately $100 going with Baby Universe instead of Target.

I ordered a crib quilt on March 3rd, and received it on March 16th. When I received it, I noticed a rip near one of the seams. By then, it was too late to return the quilt because it was a baby shower gift. I had to have the quilt repaired myself. I would recommend strong caution when ordering from Baby Universe, and also suggest ordering WELL in advance of when you need the item.
Ditto on the other reviews which reflect VERY SLOW delivery and poor customer service. My baby bedding was supposed to be delivered in 3-6 weeks, well it didn't even get shipped out until after 6 weeks had passed and still hasn't arrived -- more like 7-8 weeks after they took my money. Never again.

On 12/05/05 I ordered two toys to give as Xmas gifts. One toy arrived within a week. On 12/12/05 I called to find out when the second toy would get here. I was informed that it would not ship until 1/1/06.. AFTER XMAS!! Baby Universe did not email me with this information nor did they bother to inform me of this by phone. If I hadn't called them, I would be without a gift for one child. Needless to say, I told them to cancel part two of my order. I was told I would see a credit on my card within 5 days. It is now 7 days and STILL NO credit.

I ordered a carseat and whenever I checked the status it said $xxx.xx paid by credit card but no tracking number. I never received any notification that the item was not in stock, etc. I called after a week and they said the warehouse had just moved and that sometimes they did not update the tracking number. They said I could not cancel the order because it would probably ship that weekend. I waited another week...still not shipped. After a long time on hold they let me cancel and I did.
It's now been at least several weeks and maybe months since the warehouse move. I think they originally said it moved the prior month. I don't know what's wrong with their distribution end but am on longer interested in finding out. I just hope they correctly make the refund to my credit card!

I ordered nursery bedding and accessories in May, 2005. The site advertised 3-6 weeks for delivery. It is now mid-August, 2005 (11 weeks later), and I still haven't received my complete order. I was billed for the full amount in May. They have been unable to give me a date for when I can expect my order to arrive.
I am EXTREMELY disappointed. I ordered the bedding early to prepare my nursery for my new baby, and now I won't have it in time. Nobody even notified me to let me know that it would be more than 3-6 weeks.
I will NEVER use Baby Universe again. I ordered a Peg Perego Twin Aria stroller and was told it was in stock. I was also told it would take 2-3 days for the order to be process and 4 days to ground ship it to me. I was so excited that my item was in stock as every other baby website reported at least a two week wait for my item. Well, Baby Universe and its representatives lied. It has been a week and 1/2 and my item has not been shipped. Their representatives were evasive, refused to give tracking #s or contact Peg Perego to find out why my stroller had not been shipped yet. They gave excuses about how their email system was slow and maybe my item was on the way. Finally, a rude employee told my husband that our item would not go out for at least another week and he refused to help us further. Please, do not use this deceptive business under any circumstances! Four calls to their customer service line did no good. I am still waiting to hear from management about my experience.

Horrible user interface. I tried to order a car seat just now, and on the confirmation page it states that my purchase is complete... however, that was just an advertisement to have me go purchase some baby rewards program. It turns out that if you keep reading on the page, my purchase actually wasn't complete and that I needed to call them about my payment information. AUGH. Glad I kept reading. SLOW, RUDE, AND INEFFICIENT SERVICE. I'm not sure why this store is rated so highly. We ordered a Bertini stroller from Baby Universe on 12/19/05. As of December 28, we had heard nothing from them and our "order status" on their website continued to be "Waiting to Ship." I phoned and was put on hold for ten minutes, after which I was told that the stroller was out of stock and that absolutely no information was available as to when it would be in stock (though the website continues to say that the item is in stock). I would have expected someone to contact us at the very least, so I don't think this vendor deserves the high rating it has here.
UPDATE: Followup contact with Baby Universe (another 10 min hold) even worse. My card was charged for an item they don't even have in stock & customer service tells me they are not responsible for processing the credit, that accounting will do that in 3-4 days. Nor am I allowed to speak to anyone in accounting! The CS rep I spoke with was unhelpful and rude. This store deserves a much lower rating.

Ordered a car seat that was "in stock"..to be fair it did say that the order "process" time would be 2-4 weeks..I guess they hand stitch it or something..anyway it was 2 months before it showed up on my doorstep.
They charged my credit card as soon as they got the order and it did not ship for almost two months..
Poor communication. Got one girl who finally did reply to my emails and phone calls.
Overall, could have ordered this seat from any other company on the internet at the same price and will do that next time!

Original order was placed on 10/03/06, waited the 6 weeks for the special delivery. At the 6 week mark had not received any shipping information and emailed Customer Service. Was told that it would be an additional 2 weeks! Now two weeks was on 11/30/06 and still have not received any shipping information. Emailed Customer Service on 12/1 and have not heard back. Called Customer Service today and they were astounded that I have not received the crib bedding and were going to follow up with someone. Not sure who, maybe the crib bedding fairy. I am having a very bad shopping experience with Baby Universe. They were very quick to take the order but shipped me the wrong model car seat. Although their website advertises customer satisfaction, they are not responding to replace the car seat with the one that I actually ordered. I suspect that they did not have stock of the car seat that I ordered, so they shipped whatever they had to record the sale. Don't buy anything from Baby Universe. Their customer service is completely unacceptable.

Bad experience. The last part of my order took a month to ship, and I was never told what was going on with it! I was never told that my item was on back order and/or it had to shipped from the manufacturer. So finally I attempted to cancel the order, and amazingly it was shipped on the same day. The box was ripped apart for the stroller...but the product was not damaged in any way. I thought the stroller would have rubber wheels...but they are plastic...so I am a little disappointed with it because I had gotten a free umbrella stroller from toys r us....for purchasing over 75 dollars. The one from Toys R us...is a simple umbrella stoller and it has nice rubber wheels.........but I wanted one with the top hood and bottom carrier underneath. The stroller that I received from Toys r us...is valued at only 14 dollars....and it is a much better stroller. Read more

Website offered 2-3 day free shipping on my item. At day 4, item had not shipped according to the website. I called cust. svc, and they took info and said they would return call. I have yet to hear back. I have actually checked on the status of my item through fedex, not baby universe because baby universe could not give any specific info on my order, only that I had met the Christmas delivery deadline. According to fedex, I am scheduled for Christmas Eve delivery, but no one can guarantee that I will have the item. My 2-3 day delivery is actually going to be a minimum of 10 days. Read more

We ordered a baby crib that was in stock at the time, but after waiting for two weeks, we had still not recieved. I checked the online shipping status, and it stated"waiting to be shipped". I e-mailed customer service, and was bluntly told that " As stated online, it is still backordered. It does not state when it will ship. "
We asked for a refund.
I think we should have been notified that the item was out of stock, instead of waiting for us to get impatient with the manufacturer's shipping process.
I also think that we could have been given options, if the item we requested became unavailable, suggest that we upgrade at a discounted rate, or at least show us a selection of available options.
We recently bought a crib at a local retailer,since your shipping policy could not guarantee we would recieve one from you before the expected arrival of our son. Read more

The product, the price and the shipping were excellent but I was left with 1 major flaw to deal with. I never recieved an email confirming my order nor did the website direct me to a page listing a confirmation of purchase! The only record I had that I had even puchased the item was my bank statement showing funds subtracted!
Until the car seat arrived (very promptly I should commend) I had no proof or record that I was recieving a shipment from Baby Universe. This left my wife and I very uneasy and very suspsicious of dealing with this company. In a day and age where fraud is rampant we would rather pay more for peace of mind, any day. I made two orders of two carseats each. The first order was made on Dec. 28. I was not aware that the pattern had been discontinued until I looked up my order status online. I called customer service. My order arrived Jan 8. On Jan 8, I ordered the same two carseats. I was send tracking numbers for that order. The problem was that the tracking numbers were for the first order. I called customer service. The rep said that she would call me back with the correct tracking number. She never did. We like to shop at Baby Universe and that is not only because they are a Quixtar Partnerstore. The only thing I would really like to see improved is packaging. In many cases there is no or not sufficiant stuffing inside the boxes and the toys or at least the inside packaging gets damaged sometimes. Once a new car seat's cover was damaged due to unsufficiant packaging and rough handling by the delivery service (but that's to be expected, so packaging has to be better). So far most orders got here in o.k. shape but they were also used as gifts and the packaging just didn't look good enough any more in some cases.

I still have NOT yet received the items (it has been over a week now, some 3 day delivery you have there~) and the baby shower has come and gone.
