I was looking for disks by Elizabethan composers. The selection at Amazon produced a few choices, many only available used. Google search brought me to CD Universe. Although it was my first time, the prices seemed reasonable (not too low) and the selection was amazing. I did some research here and on other sites to find out how long they had been around and whether there were any complaints -- clean bill of health.
I picked out a set of Shakespeare songs by the original Deller consort (for nostalgia's sake -- Deller was a pioneering performer of early music). I also decided on a boxed set of Dowland's collected works by The Consort of Musicke on Oiseau-Lyre. I rarely buy boxed sets, but the mp3s on the CD Universe site sounded very good, the performers I recognized were first rate and the price was 1/3 off -- 12 CDs for the cost of 4. I ordered CDs from several places that day. The ones from CD Universe arrived first (only Newegg is that fast). The Dowland set is incredible -- a real "desert-island" choice. CD Universe is my new go-to site for music.

I was looking for a very difficult to find item. I found it plus so much more. The selection at CD Universe is unbelievable. In addition to the selection the prices are a dream. CD Universe has a great assortment of video games, with very competitive prices. Their delivery rates are among the best I've ever seen, if not, the best! They are very fast at getting customers their goods, and have reliable customer service. Their site looks great and is easy to navigate, plus they have a ton of good stuff to offer.

This store has been a great way to get the latest music in all genres since I've been on the internet. Cheap prices, shipping, and they even stock the smaller labels that many retail stores wont stock on Tuesday! Do yourself a favor and buy from these guys.

Good Store They Ship there DVD's When They are in stock or if they are in stock they ship in 48 hrs. They have fast shipping and the prices are good for some hard to get DVD's like Ranma 1/2 trying to get the entire series non-import version for a cheap price is hard. They do it for about $92 a box set when others are $120 a box set plus taxes and shipping.

I have bought (2 times) CD's and DVDs from CD Universe. The disks arrived to Peru, where I live, in 10 days ("Usually ships in 1-2 days" items) and in 2 weeks ("pre-order" items).

Price + international shipping cost at CD universe are the best. The customer service and "broken jewel case replacements" policy is OK. I'm very satisfied with CD Universe.

I ordered my VHS film from CD Universe, waited the prescribed 10 days for my check to clear, and then they promptly shipped my order. I have played the tape, and it works perfectly. My only disappointment is that I paid $10.85 for the video, and today on the web they are offering it for only $8.45, some $2.50 less than I paid. Those are the breaks of the game, however, and price changes are bound to occur. I am only sorry to be the victim, and not be beneficiary.

CD Universe is a great website. It gives great information on the CD's, wonderful reviews, and good prices. They have good deals, and low shipping prices. The CD's came very quickly, under a week. They got my order perfect, and had great customer service. I liked being able track my package online to see how long it would take to get here. I was very satisfied overall. Highly recommended.

Chose this website to purchase a DVD because they said it was "in stock", as I needed to get a Christmas present quickly. They sent me a confirmation email with an expected ship date and delivery date. When I didn't receive it when expected, I checked the status and discovered it was "backordered". This is unacceptable, and smacks of listing "in stock" simply to get a customer's order. To their credit, it was easy to cancel the order online, but it should never have been necessary.

Ordered cd by Lou Ann Barton "Old Enough" on October 13, 07. Site indicated it was in stock, confirmation email from cd universe said it would be shipped sometime between Oct 13 and Nov 6. Has not been received as of Dec 6. E mails now received weekly from cd universe informing me that if I enjoyed the Lou Ann Barton cd I should consider buying certain similar artists cd's from cd universe. Fat chance of that ever happening. Worst online service I have ever encountered.

Lost my order, lied to me that it was shipped and could not deliver on time. I chose "Expedited With Tracking", which for CD universe means no tracking number and two-week shipping. My order was cancelled...
Would I consider shopping at CD universe again? NO
Would I recommend anybody to shop at CD universe? NO

CD Universe it a good company to deal with, UNTIL, you try to get a refund. They will issue store credit and good luck getting it applied to an order. I have failed to get a refund on THREE separate occasions. I did not have my credit applied to my order, even though I contacted customer service before the order to learn how to apply my credit to my order. They said it is "Automatically applied", it was not. I had to contact customer service again and they REFUSED to issue credit my credit card, but told me I had one year to use my store credit or it will be lost.

I had to contact my credit card company and the US Post Office Department to get my money back. A customer SHOULDN’T have to do this for a refund.

I figured once was a mistake, but I was a fool to try them twice more.

Now, if a company takes your money and refused to ship you a product or give you a REFUND is mail fraud.

What’s wrong with these guys.?

CD Universe ease of use website had dvd movies I have yet to see.  Placed order, received email that order has been shipped.  One week later, I emailed customer service:  Shipment is standard (3-8 days) and does not have a tracking number.

Mighty strange how I can place an order elsewhere (up to 2,300 mi), receive email of order being shipped and in receipt of order within 7 days.

Yet, CD Universe is approximately 2 1/2 hours away and 2 weeks later...nothing!

I will update this review upon receipt of order. I hope I receive it.
