Terrible! I will never use half.com again.

The name half.com is an understatement when referring to their customer service. These people are crooks. Since when do you operate an online company without even posting your customer service number. They owe me money and they keep trying to deposit it into a 3 year-old bank account and it keeps failing - imagine that. In order to update the account online, you have to enter your old account number (I guess everyone keeps their old account numbers around in their wallets?!). I tried calling ebay, and ebay said they do not have half.com's phone number! wow. Upon receiving my money for books I have sold I am never using this service again.

Cheap books but awful with customer service. I got ripped off- never got the book- and have waited almost 2 months now for my refund. I ordered a book, got charged for it and after not receiving it discovered that the seller had done this to 4-5 others and was AWOL. I have gone through the (hard to find) process of requesting an inquiry and have emailed them numerous times with no reply. Will not buy from them again.

NO CUSTOMER HELP

placed two orders at Half.com. Did not receive order,NO RESOLUTION CENTER, All they say is to contact the seller. When i asked for a customer service person to help,they told me to call 18007234763 which is the Disney corperation. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE GUY'S, YOU CAN NOT FILE A CLAIM OF ANY TYPE!

BAD EXPERIENCE

I an very unhappy with the textbook ordering and selling procedures on half.com. The seller says that they are sending a book, charges your account, and then several days later THROUGH TRACKING ONLY do you find out that they did not have the book, did not send the book, and already charged your account and did not credit your account. The half.com website is very consumer unfriendly. You must wait 48 hours to even begin to file a claim even though you know the item will not be sent and you have been charged. Then when they finally let you click on "file a claim" they make you wait an additional 7 days to not receive the item even though they (half.com, the vendor) know you will never receive the item and you have already been charged. There are no email links, no phone links on half.com, just entry points for your card to be charged and you to get ripped off. Never again, BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!

Seller Beware

Half.com is part of Ebay and as such they should be ashamed of the abhorrent customer service provided.
Being a buyer was always easy. I just became a seller and it's a nightmare. In short, their site is incapable of registering my "Seller Payment Method" so I sent their customer service department a few emails, waited a few weeks. In the meantime, I sold and shipped a $75 textbook. At this point, I want my money! The customer service number isn't ANYWHERE on their site (I'm 25 and miles ahead of the average internet user so if I can't find your number, you either don't have one or you're hiding it on purpose) so I googled it.
I waited to speak to a service rep for 1 hour and 45 minutes before my phone (and my spirit) died. The seller is completely powerless at Half.com. There's more.
For a heavy textbook they will reimburse me $3.85 for shipping. The actual cost was $9.41 including the packaging. Don't forget to account for that stuff when you price your item.
Remember Half.com takes a significant percentage of the sale. Depending on the cost of the item it can be as high as 15%.

Abysmal - repulsive - RUN AWAY FAST!

I needed a book for a graduate class. Since the seller (directtoyou) said they had what I needed, and it was "ready to ship", so I ordered it. The order was placed on 9/17/2003, and here I sit - NO book, NO COMMUNICATION AT ALL FROM ANYONE! The "seller" has not responded to FOUR tries at e mailing (but how do I know if it was ever sent by half.com?) Half.com had not responded to my attempts to contact them!
This had been a repulsive experience, and believe me I will NEVER be repeating it, and I will cautioneveryone I know to avoid it as well.

I PURCHASED 2 BOOKS ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2006. THE BOOKS WERE TO BE DELIVERED 9/13 TO 9/25/06. AS OF TODAY, OCTOBER 4, 2006, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE BOOKS. THE AMOUNT OF $133.00 WAS TAKEN OUT OF MY CREDIT CARD ON 9/5/2006.
I NEED THE BOOKS AND SENT 6 EMAILS SINCE 9/25/06AND THE BEST THAT CUSTOMER SERVICE CAN TELL ME IS TO FILE A CLAIM AND WITHIN 30 DAYS I WILL GET A RESPONSE.
THIS IS NOT A REPUTABLE COMPANY AND I AM NOT SATISFIED AT ALL WITH THEM

Worst online buying experience of my life.

Since Ebay has taken over half.com, it has certainly sunk to new lows. This has got to be THE WORST online "store" i have ever seen.
Notice a few things:
1)Try to find some actual DIRECT contact emails for
customer service.
2)Try to find some DIRECT phone numbers for customer service....guest what...YOU CANT!!
They are the biggest joke going.
I made a simple video purchase mid october,2003, its now
December 3rd...nada..nothing....zilch.
I have contacted the seller(i use that term loosely) several times, of course no response.
I have contacted half.ebay through their initial "file complaint" form (of course you can only do this once) and
of course have recieved no response, and for weeks now, the
status reads they're "working on it," or some such crap.
HEED MY WARNING.
Do not use half.ebay...that is, unless your a masochist!
By the way, in this particular scenario the "seller" is
caria1994, steer clear of caria1994, nothing but bad news!

I PAID BY CREDIT CARD FOR A VHS TAPE OF THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN AND NEVER REC' THE TAPE. CONTACTED HALF.COM AND WAS TOLD TO WAIT, AND WAIT. NOW 30 DAYS THEY STILL HAVE MY MONEY AND I HAVE NOT A THING. FILED FRAUD COMPLAINT WITH HALF.COM AND WAS TOLD TO WAIT 30 MORE DAYS. FRAUD BY SELLER AND HALF.COM SO DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY.

Absolutely hate this site, I ordered three books none of them came. One of them, the seller tried to convince me to take the softcover version instead of the hardcover (this was a $100 textbook). I will NEVER again go to this site or order any thing. When I tried to get my money back half.com told me I have to wait until I get the item until they will refund my money!!

Beware of bootleg sellers!!!

Selection: great. Shipping: great. Prices: great. The ordered product: Bootleg. The problem is I purchased a Disney DVD, and when I received it I thought that the graphics on the packaging and the actual dvd looked a little out of focus and fuzzy; as if they were scanned. Trying to remain positive, I played the dvd on our portable dvd player (we were taking a road trip). Guess what? My portable dvd player will not play copied discs. Played it at home on the regular dvd player and no problem. (The seller advertised this product as "new". Never made any reference to it being a copy.) If you like keeping movie pirates in business, half.com is the site for you.

Half.com advertises a buyer protection policy, but this is a total farce. I believe that most sellers on half.com are honest, but half.com does absolutely nothing to monitor those who commit fraud. I filed a complaint in regard to a book described as "brand new" when it was actually in poor condition. All I got from half.com was a bunch of emails from different people, none of whom appeared to have actually read my complaint. Nothing but a runaround. All I asked for was a refund of the price paid plus my cost to return the book to the seller. Half.com never addressed any of the issues in my complaint, but they did agree to reimburse me for up to $2.00 to mail a large hardback book with delivery confirmation and insurance. What a joke.

DISASTER--once half.com has your money it's almost impossible to get it back

I placed one order in June for four books from four different sellers. Three came through as described and in a timely manner. I never saw the fourth book, and am still struggling through the eBay bureaucracy trying to recover the $68 that they charged me for the book on 6/29. I have followed all of their procedures to the letter--including contacting the seller multiple times and never hearing a word back.
If you buy from different sellers, I suggest that you do so with different credit card transactions. It won't cost you any more in shipping, and that way you can have Visa reverse the charge for a single book (I paid for mine in a $250 lump). Their "claim" system is ridiculous! I saved money on the three books that I actually received, but I'll never use half.com again!
