The first time I ever knew about Radio Shack was when I heard about their computer system that competed with some of the other big names. What was that? The early 80's? At that time, I was not (and still am not) an electronics/computer guru so...

My brother bought my son a kids' video camera on radioshack.com. He's in MA, we're in VA. I picked the camera up from the store without showing any kind of ID. Easy to pick up - very hard to return is the lesson... The camera was a great idea, but it ...

If you want answers, Radio Shack is not the place to go. Sad to say, but the shack is just a shadow of it's former self. In 1980, I discovered the shack while I was a teenager. All us geeks hung out there and swapped information on audio, computers, cb ...

I bought a satellite radio receiver from Radio Shack. It came with two rebates, one from RS and the other from Sirius. The receiver was a defective model that was known to have several major problems. When I returned the defective receiver to RS they made me pay back both rebates in order to have the defective receiver replaced with a working model. This is an unfair policy and shows that they do not stand behind the products they sell. Do not shop Radio Shack, they'll rip you off if they get the chance.
Ordered an item to be delivered to a radio shack retail location. Fedex tried to deliver and said that retail location was closed. It is clearly open, alive and kicking. Radio shack would do absolutely nothing for me. Fedex returned item to Radio Shack on-line shipping location. They will not even tell me how to get a refund. The item is in limbo and they have my money. Trying to call radio shack on-line and they hang up on me.
You can't find some items in the store, you have to order them. by rchhndrsn ,Apr 15 '04
All my fellow Ham Radio operators lend me your ears. If you been in Radio Shack and could not find the device you were looking for, this is why. Your local Radio Shack store has gone on-line for all your big or small radio projects. It has been so simple to get your Operational Amps, NE555 Timers, Logic Devices, in the mail right to your home.
Radio Shack, Tandy Company, producers of electronic equipment and semi-conductors have found it easier and more convenient to have catalog order those items to you by mail. To stop harassing a salesman for something he does not have any idea what it is.
Who remembers when they visited a local Radio Shack to get an array of resistors? And the clerk did not know what you were talking about? Well, I believe this is the solution to our problems. You get 24 hours ordering, on-line help, and right to your door delivery. Now that is the picture.
So, when you need that device for your ham radio set your local Radio Shack has not let you down they just went on-line.
radio shack is a fun place to look in by thecheat ,Dec 01 '04
Radio Shack is a good place to go for electronics if you can't find them any where else. They have a large selection of those
hard to find things but the prices can cost you a pretty penny. The stores have good service and the products, like any name brand, are good quality but not so on price. If you want an electronic toy for a kid the Radio Shack is the place to go first. Actually go to Radio Shack first for electronics and see if they have it and then if they do go some where else and compare prices and go for the best one. If they don't have what you want then look some where else.
If you want customer service in case of a problem with product, shop elsewhere by mike0616 ,Mar 01 '06
Radio Shack may have items you want, but they are lacking on customer service, to say the least.
Bought product from them, it wouldn't work, so filled out their form on their website got an instant e-mail back that one of their customer service people would send a reply "within 24 hours."
All I can say is "don't hold your breath, unless you look really good in blue!"
3 days later, I called their 800 number and made it thru the myriad calling options to get to a "customer service agent." They hadn't a clue, so am taking product to nearest RS this afternoon and will have AMEX take it off my bill.
Not sure what to think about their products (they are certainly not the store they used to be) and their lack of selection is showing, but they definitely do NOT have customer service.
I got a new Cingular phone at a Radioshack here. Service was great and the people were very knowledgeable. They had the phone I wanted and all the accessories that I needed. Plus the phone was free. I have always gotten my cell phones at radioshack and have always been pleased. I was shocked to findout that I could return my phones up to 90 days.
I ordered two mp3 players 2 weeks ago for Christmas. They just now (2 weeks later) sent me an email saying they were out of stock and my order was cancelled. I checked their site and they show them in-stock but $20 more expensive. Waiting until this close to Christmas to cancel my order (and lie about it) is unbelievable.
Radioshack.com - tried to cancel an order about 2 minutes after it was purchased, was told that "Once the order allocates in the system, we are unable to make any changes to it". Novel idea, being able to cancel online before it ships within a reasonable time frame.
The phone system to get your RA number is almost enough to make you crazy, its clearly designed to frustrate the caller into hanging up with no resolution. There are no options for returns or cancellations, and every avenue dumps you into some anonymous voice mail or another sub menu. For the record, I don't typically have any problems with automated phone systems. This one is pretty special.
Long story short you're out the shipping of course, and I'll never shop there again. Small wonder they're closing up shop all over.
Terrible experience, never again by bobfuss ,Dec 20 '06
First time shopping on the site and the experience was terrible. I found a printer that I wanted to buy. The web site said I must buy it at a store and asked for my zip code so it could give me a store address near me, with one in stock. I went to the store it gave me and the store refused to sell the item to me at the internet advertised price because they were not a corporate store. Customer service's answer was, that is the way it works.
Still haven't received product after 2 weeks and 2 orders by no2banners ,Jun 24 '06
I purchased 4 products from RadioShack.com, but their distributor printed an incorrect label for FedEx Ground delivery. This problem became evident after 7 days, and so they made me reorder. The second order was cancelled after a few days because it is out of stock, and yet the website says everything is still in stock!
So it's been two weeks and I have no product, and yet my credit card still shows both purchases haven't been refunded!
Radio Shack.com had the RCA Super Radio on sale for $49.99. The tem was shown out of stock online and they would not issue a rain check or allow me to back order it. They would not work with me on a resolution and I never received a reply back from a manager when I asked them to forward my emails to one. I would not recommend RadioShack.Com. I went back and forth with them via email and they would not allow me to back order the item.
quality products, knowledgeable salespeople by dmease ,Dec 20 '05
Radio Shack is a breath of fresh air for people needing advice on technology. Most of the time the salespeople are knowledgeable and NOT pushy. If you describe your problem they are trained to offer solutions, and their return policy is excellent.
I recently purchase the Sanyo 4370 GPS system on their website which was a special Memorial day sale 09. The website shows that the item is in stock and they will continue to process your order. After 1.5 days, they decided to cancel it because the item is out of stock. I paid for it and they even said in the 2 status update that it was in stock. On their website, they say that they can send you an "important email" if the item is out of stock and cancel your order. It is the most ridiculous website I have ever seen! How do you pay for it with your credit card, only to have it cancel - not during the order period but 1.5 days later. DO NOT PAY ANYTHING ONLINE WITH RADIO SHACK
