Long term quality is poor....

I ordered honeycomb blinds (and not the cheep ones) for multiple rooms in my house, after 6 to 8 months the cord assembly used to raise and lower the blinds has broken on most of our blinds.  We have had to tie the cords in various knots to keep them usable but now the blind don't lower all the way down (because the cords are now to short).  Also, Smith+Noble really skimps on the length of their honeycomb blinds to begin with, if you say 42" long the blind just reach 42" after you manually stretch them each time you lower them.  Add an extra inch or two when ordering to have some slack.  Myself, I won't be ordering from them in the future.

Very disappointing! They have great catalog and website but it took over a month to get my order and then it was the wrong color. Every time you call to get information the customer service representative has to send in a request and it takes 48 hours before you get an answer.

Had a good experience with smith+noble a few years ago, thought I'd try it again. Put in a pretty expensive order for 3 honeycomb blinds. Two came pretty quickly. Tried to put them up, and the mounting hardware was impossible. Seriously. Part of the reason I used them was supposedly foolproof installation. Turns out that was only on *some* colors marked "new" on the website. Woulda been nice if they'd said that. Been over a month since I placed the order and the 3rd blind never showed up. Get the runaround every time I call- the first time they even said it shipped, but subsequent calls revealed it hadn't even been made yet. Awful. I would never order from them again.

Three years ago...awesome! This year...awful, horrible, terrible. What happened?

Terrible. Speed was slow, I had to call to prod them to process an order I entered online. The shades were the wrong length, and when they agreed to remake them the right length, they only would do it for ½ off. When they sent the remade shades, they were the wrong length AGAIN. They acknowledged this and agreed to make them for free this time, but only according to specifications that would ensure they would not be the correct length? What?!?!? They were miserable.

The real shame is that I would have given this company five stars based on my experience a few years ago, and now I can only give them one. What happened to the management of this company?

Customer service reps were an unknown lady, Lelani, and Jamelle. And at each escalation it was a step in the wrong direction for customer satisfaction. Wow they are terrible!

SHAMEFULLY AWFUL SERVICE, SHODDY PRODUCTS

I've never taken the time to write a review of any company before, but I wish I'd taken the time to read these reviews before I ordered from this company. They've bombarded me with near weekly catalogues for years, and I finally ordered five shades from them...the quality was poor, the construction was shoddy, the shades I ordered were not the shades I got, and the service was truly appalling. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was told the wait would be 4-5 HOURS. I sent an email instead and got no response. I have to reorder the shades I need, because the ones S&N sent are unusable, but I'll order them from another company rather than give them another penny--and they want me to pay to remake for their mistakes! DON'T CONSIDER ORDERING FROM THIS COMPANY--the beautiful catalogs in no way correlate to the products they send.

From our experience costumer service and standing by their product quality is not in their business plan.

Everything went well until the roman shades arrived. The wooden header of one of the blinds was broken - split during the installation of a mounting grommet in the factory. So much for quality control.

They also sent the wrong hardware - one was antique brass as we'd requested, but the other was white. We've now had a major hassle to get what we ordered in the first place. What a waste of time and money!

Terrible delivery and customer service. The delivery of my shutters was delayed by several weeks. Then Smith+Noble never sent me the name of the delivery company nor the tracking number for the package. The delivery company didn't arrive at the scheduled appointment time. The delivery company could not track my shipment without a tracking number. Smith and Noble couldn't give me the tracking information when I called to ask for it. No one knows where my shutters are and I still don't have them.

can't make blinds to match swatch and won't give me my money back

I ordered metal miniblinds and wood blinds from Smith + Noble, and they arrived very quickly. The metal blinds were fine and I had no trouble installing them. The wood blinds did not match the swatch that Smith + Noble had sent previously; the finish on the swatch ("light beech") was clear and the wood was iridescent, which I loved; in contrast, the blinds had a flat, paint-like finish which was light but which masked the wood grain. I called them immediately and they (eventually) shipped the blinds back; then (eventually) they told me that, in their opinion, the blinds matched the swatch. I emailed them pictures showing them that this was not true; now they're offering me store credit, which I don't want, and it took five weeks for all of this to happen. I would strongly recommend against doing business with Smith + Noble.

The on-line ordering process was easy. However, it took much too long for the company to produce and ship the window treatments. I ordered 2 wood blinds and 2 roller shades. The wood blinds came out fine, but it took more than a month to get them.

I had to call the company to find out what happened to the roller shades and the customer service I received was spotty at best. I had placed the order in October and still hadn't received the shades in January. I submitted an on-line inquiry but received no response. Then I called and was told by the person I spoke with that she didn't know what had happened but would do some research and call me back in a couple of days. She never did. I had to then place another call, at which point I was told that the tassel fringe was on back order. I never received any notification that this was why my order was held up. I changed the order to remove the tassel fringe and the shades came in a few weeks later.

I will not ever use Smith+Noble again.

My purchase from Smith and Noble turned into the most horrendous online shopping experience of my life. The fabric panels I purchased were impossible to install. The customer service rep told me this was a "known problem" (gee, if they knew about it why did they sell me the product), and they would send me some new hardware to fix it. Six weeks later they admitted there was no fix. The product had been taken out of production and I was offered a store credit to use when the product was re-engineered and available again at some unknown future date. After quite a discussion they agreed to refund our purchase price. Then they said they would not refund the shipping and we had to jump through more hoops before finally getting a full refund. In addition to the product problems, the service left much to be desired - poor communication between factory and customer service, rude people (I suppose I would be too if I had to deal with problems like this all day), unreasonable service timetables, you name it. I have done extensive online shopping for years and have never had an experience like this.

While selection and delivery were generally good we have been EXTREMELY disappointed in the quality of the products we received. We ordered three of the honeycomb style blinds; two with the top down feature and one of the standard type. On the initial order we had to return one of the blinds 3 times because the mechanism arrived in a broken state each time! We’ve had these blinds for less than a year and all of the mechanisms have now broken and we’re in the process of replacing all of them Within days of installation we were having issues; including small accent part falling off, shades coming unglued from the runners, and broken strings. Customer service was reasonable when replacing the broken shade 3 times over, but it was pretty obvious they though I was BSing them. After going though all these hassles I decided to just fix things as they broke myself since I am pretty handy, but over time they reappeared due to a generally bad design. I would definitely NOT recommend purchasing these blinds.

Dido on the poor customer service! I ordered bedding from these guys and have yet to receive the product as I ordered it. Sure, they sent bedding, but not to the specifications that I ordered and paid $1,200 for. It seems like all the customer service reps are reading from a script "our products are custom made therefore we cannot give you a refund".

Give me a break...you throw something together and call it custom made? And I can't get get anywhere with customer service. When I ask for a manager, I get put on hold for 20 minutes and then they claim that he or she is in a meeting. But, they'll call me back. Yeah right!

So, if anyone can provide insight on how to get my money back, please do. I thought about trying to appeal the charges with my credit card company. So frustrating!!!!

Smith and Noble is horrible! I will never do business again with them. They send you the wrong size products that you did not order and then they won't take them back even though it's their fault. Their delivery is poor and takes far too long. And they are rude people on the phone.

Smith&Noble provides little or no support for their products. Other manufacturers of window treatments have provided me with replacement parts at little or no cost, even if the blinds were purchased by the previous homeowner. Smith&Noble told me to go to a hardware store! Ironically, it was the clerk at the store who told me to contact the manufacturer.

Additionally, their clerks did not seem to understand my request. They simply repeated that my blinds were no longer under warranty, even after I offered to purchase the brackets. I waited interminably to speak to a supervisor, then just gave up. It isn't worth any more of my time, when I can drive to Bed,Bath and Beyond and just buy another brand of blinds, complete with brackets!

I'm disappointed when a company does not stand behind it's products, and Smith&Noble does not. Frankly, their prices are not competitive enough to make up for this lack of product support. I'll be shopping elsewhere.

1 of the WORST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE!

ORDERED FROM SMITH AND NOBLE BEFORE THANKSGIVING 2007 IT IS NOW 5 DAYS B4 XMAS AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT GOTTEN MY ORDER CORRECT. THE KEEP REPRODUCING IT WRONG OVER AND OVER AND OVER, MY CELL PHONE BILL IS COMICAL IF YOU SEE HOW MANY HOURS I HAVE SPENT WITH THEIR AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. WHAT IS SO IRONIC TO ME IS, THE ONLY THING THEY SEEM TO HAVE DONE QUICKLY AND CORRECTLY IS CHARGE MY CREDIT CARD! GO FIGURE THAT! MEAN WHILE I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CREDIT! BUILDING OUR $200,000 POLL WAS HONESTLY LESS STRESSFUL THAN DEALING WITH SMITH AND NOBLE. LOOK MY MOTO IS MISTAKES HAPPEN, THEY HAPPEN...BUT YOU DONT PAY A PREMIUM FOR MISTAKES THAT THEY CANT SEEM TO FIX, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MONTHS OF HEADACHES! it is not that they make mistakes! IT IS THAT THEY CANT FIND OR IMPLEMENT SOLUTIONS ONCE MISTAKES ARE DISCOVERED!!! ABSOLUTELY THEY WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH/ PLEASE PLEASE BUYERS BEWARE!
