Pros: so easy to use Cons: not many
I originally had AOL and accompanying page. When their builder went to cr@p, I searched and found Yahoo.
Out of the many web sites and their web builders, Yahoo's is one of the easiest to use.
I've had my web page there for over a year....

Pros: FREE Cons: slow, lots of problems
I have had my Geocities website for about a year now. At first I really got into the whole process of creating my webpage etc...When I first begun, my ex computer whiz Justin, convinced me that I could build and manage it myself. I was very hesitant...

Pros: large storage, FTP capabilities, help when it is needed Cons: Don't lose your password!
I have been a member of Geocities for years now. It has been growing in leaps and bounds since I joined somewhere back around 1995 or 1996. I started out with a relatively small amount of webspace. I can’t remember exactly, but I think it was 2 MB...

Pros: User friendly, excellent support system, generally robust system, Free Cons: Largeness can make the service impersonal, advertising pop ups
A few years ago when I decided to incorporate the Internet in my classroom, I began looking for the best free services I could find. I was a newbie to making my own web pages, but knew that I wanted to start them with basic HTML and wanted to teach my...

Pros: yahoo!clubs Cons: all their other services
Free Homepages
Years ago if you wanted a free website and your ISP didn't offer free space, Geocities was the only place to go. People flocked to Geocities and didn't mind their ads because for ABSOLUTELY NO MONEY they could get 2 MB of...

Pros: Cheap. Even free if you are willing to deal with ads Cons: Ads for free site are very annoying and inconvenient, slow, poor tools
Geocities certainly seems to have gone a bit more commercial now that Yahoo has bought them. If you want to just have a free website on geocities, you need to deal with the incredibly annoying roll-down advertisements they use. I normally do not have a...

Pros: Great site to express yourself, free the writer, thinker, dreamer within Cons: Have to worry about being rated-what is this, a beauty pageant?
So I'm missing the point of why we are all gathered together under one web site, invisible...I mean indivisible, with liberty and injustice for all...but I just can't honestly judge someone else's epinions without feeling a tinge of guilt and hypocrisy....

Pros: A lot of webspace Cons: some problems with technical difficulties
Experience
For years now, I've had the opportunity to work with many different free webpage account providers. Places like, fortunecity.com, angelfire.com, xoom.com, theglobe.com, and a few other places. Among those that I used most, and...

Pros: community support, lots of help info Cons: its down now and then, but not enough to make a real difference
I have been using Yahoo-Geocities for over 2 years now. When my family began, I wanted a way to show them off to family and friends on the web. As I'm a horrible person for sending updates or photos, it was a perfect way for me to share my family with...

Pros: easy to use, easy to manage. Cons: file uploads can be slow.
I came to the important decision that I needed some webspace and possibly even my own homepage. After reviewing personal homepages of some cyber friends and businesses I settled on Yahoo!Geocities.
When choosing a web space it is important to...

Pros: Personal, User-Friendly, Up-to-Date Cons: occasional glitches
When I began experimenting with the computer I had never heard of Yahoo! I wasn't really around a lot of internet users so I pretty much just wandered around for awhile.
I began with AOL service and didn't deviate too much from that. Then I...

Pros: easy to use Cons: horrible customer service
I started my first website at geocities almost two years ago. After the usual problems and frustrations of a complete newbie trying to learn html my site grew and grew. Last time it was spidered it had 290 pages. My site has been pretty active and I...

Pros: It's free Cons: practically everything else
As I read through some of the reviews for Geocities I was amazed to see how many 3,4 and 5-star reviews were given to Geocities. Perhaps all of these reviewers haven't tried any other free website community. Perhaps Geocites has paid each and every one...

Pros: Free, but see below. Cons: You get what you pay for. Geocities was great BEFORE it merged with Yahoo. And that's not all.
Then
I joined Geocities (NOTICE no Yahoo here) almost 3 years ago. What I liked about it was the friendliness and helpfulness of the Community Leaders, the ease to set up a simple page, and the closeness that could be achieved by a small...
