Big siblings always try so hard to be perfect. Mobshop is no exception, and in all areas I've been in contact with it's doing a very good job.
A Growing Crowd
Mobshop is a group buying company; that is to say, they arrange special deals with sellers for lower prices on some item if the item is bought by a specified number of people. The more people who sign up for a deal, the lower the price goes. Mobshop is hardly the only company of its kind (heck, I've already reviewed two others), but it's the one I consider my favorite, because I personally like the way they do things. Registration is blissfully short and very simple, which is always one of the first things I consider. The website is rather cleanly presented, avoiding confusing clutter and jarring colors. Advertising is unobtrusive, and they offer a small applet to scroll offers in one corner that doesn't take up as much space as many sites devote to such things.
Navigating the site is easy and rather intuitive, with nicely organized categories which are unfortunately too few. As with most companies, there aren't many offers always, but items not currently in a buying cycle can be requested.
Playing Favorites
The reason I really love Mobshop so much more than the other sites I've used thus far is that price tracking and reserving is so easy. All you have to do is choose a radio button, then submit your choice. Tracking is also done very well here, I believe, with simple and frequent mailings. You can choose to be notified of a price drop and when the closing nears.
Their affiliate program is also very nice. They offer 7% commission (most are 5%) and $.03 a click. This might very well be the reason they survive beyond some of their competition. Also, they're offering free shipping (Continental US of course) for a limited time, which is always popular.
Riot
In the end of this trilogy of reviews I've done, I have to choose Mobshop as my favorite. Though some of the others have nice features, I really believe Mobshop to be the best choice.
